I admit it...we were only in town for a few days and we got SPOILED over at the Onyx Lab! However, even if the bar hadn't been set so high, I still would have expected better from a coffee shop with such high ratings. My first impression was positive: everything was new, the lobby was very inviting, and I thought the funky elevated seating was a cool idea. However, after we ordered we realized that we couldn't get two drinks in a row without battling fruit flies, and that really did color the rest of the experience for us. It was bad enough we had to go outside to finish. I wanted to mention it to draw attention for the management in case it's somehow been missed, but also to give a heads up to anybody who plans to spend some time working/studying there. You may need to reconsider...unless you're REALLY into...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood coffee shop near Pinnacle. The atmosphere is nice, music isn't loud and lots of other people chatting or working. I visited and worked for a few hours and it was a decent spot to work. They had a cool 2-story table setup which was fun.
I got hot chocolate and the Heroes cookie. The hot chocolate was just not that good, sadly. I know it's probably a crime to judge a coffee shop by their hot chocolate, but oh well. The cookie was good.
I'd for sure come back to work here if the hot chocolate was better. I'm sure they have good coffee because they were relatively busy the whole time...

My only worry and complain: For both my orders (americano and hot tea) the barista used the hot water coming out from the faucet of a regular kitchen SINK instead of the boiling hot water from the spout of the coffee machine. Thinking that it was very weird a did a little bit of research and I saw that every regulatory agency warns against the risk of drinking hot water coming out of the sink because of the possible contaminants present in it, and it's definitely not ok. Hopefully they will...
