I will start this review by saying that I have eaten here many times in the past and it usually has been a good experience each time for the most part. I Made a to go order and picked it up today and was extremely disappointed with the food. The 2 dishes I ordered where the massaman curry with chicken and the volcano chicken. They asked which spice level I wanted for each dish, I asked for 4 out of 5 stars for the curry and a 3 for the volcano chicken. I will start with the massaman, it had absolutely no level of spice at all. I could see a 4 was written on the container so they did take my order correctly, but the spice level tasted like barely 1 star at most. The rest of the massaman was ok but the portion was very small for the price, so that was also disappointing. Then there was the volcano chicken.. the description on the menu read "hand breaded crispy chicken with minced bell peppers, onions and garlic sauce" nothing about this was accurate. The first thing I noticed was how mushy the chicken was in the sauce with no peppers or onions. The sauce had absolutely no slice to it and was very very sweet and it had an orange/tangerine flavor. Those few things were bad enough but it was excited to at least try the chicken.. disappointed again. Every piece of chicken was so chewy and I wasn't able to eat a single piece entirely without having to spit it out because of how how chewy it was. I could tell it was very over cooked/fried. All around just a really disappointing experience and I will very likely never eat here again. Not worth the $40 I spent...
Read moreMy family and I planned to celebrate my younger sister's birthday tonight at Pattaya. After tonight's experience, we will never return, and I would NOT recommend anyone to come here for a good dine-in experience. We arrived at 8:30pm and were seated in a large booth. After being seated, the waitress asked us how many was in our party. I told her we had a party of 8, and she sighed in great distress--as if we were an inconvenience--and then proceeded to individually throw menus to the 5 of us that had arrived. She proceeded to roll her eyes after handing out the menus, and then left the table without a word. We didn't even have time to look at the menu, and she came back with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order--despite the rest of our party still missing. I responded "No, we're not ready" and she said "We close at 9:15" and then left. This was NOT stated anywhere online. We wouldn't have come here if we thought that we'd only have 45 minutes to dine. We left before we could order, because she made it clear that we were unwanted.
As a manager in the food service industry, I've had customers show up 5-10 minutes before closing time, and I've NEVER treated them this poorly. It was completely disrespectful and unacceptable.
As for the food, I've only had their pad Thai and green curry once (through Ubereats) and it was average, nothing impressive. If you want great Thai food, save your time and go to Thai Basil, where the service tremendously better.
This is the extremely...
Read morePattaya has been one of my favorite restaurants around Northwest Arkansas ever since I moved here about three years ago. Every time I walk in the waitress recognizes me with a smile. Recently, I learned that I have an allergy to fish and shellfish. I learned quickly that most Thai food contains fish or shellfish products after I had a bad allergic reaction to a dish. From then on, I would make a note on the online order “fish and shellfish allergy”. I have never had a problem with a bad reaction after making this note on my order.
Tonight, the restaurant was really busy and I ended up waiting a while for my pickup order. I didn’t mind waiting as I know how busy it has been during the pandemic. After waiting for a bit, I heard yelling from the kitchen about my order. The guy at the register points to me and out walks someone from the kitchen. I was told that from here on out, the restaurant will not be able to make the “House Made Yellow Curry Chicken Wontons” with the fish and shellfish allergy specification as it takes too much time to make. He told me that they would be able to make this specification this one time but not again. I do not write this review to talk negatively about this restaurant, but as a caution for others who might have a fish and shellfish allergy.
The only thing I would like the restaurant to do is be more transparent on the online and in-person menus about allergies and what can and cannot be altered for those with...
