The first week was crazy, with long lines out the door and not much available parking spaces in the lot. The strip mall is an oddly assembled, slightly hazardous architectural design - particularly with the walkways. The uneven patterns etched into the poured concrete slabs create a weird geometric fugue that's supposed to look like flagstones. However, the angles and uneven rise in each step could cause a customer to trip. That's not on the store, but the property mgmt - just letting you know to be aware, especially if you're rounding the corner that faces Walnut. They really need to edge it in yellow reflective tape or paint the edges yellow for high visibility.
Now, for the coffee. The mocha we had was perfectly smooth and chocolatey, but comes in an odd shaped glass that slopes in a way that makes it prone to lose your grip on the glass. The bottom is wider than the narrow mouth opening, which also makes it harder to drink (hits the nose bridge). The chai lattes and London Fog that I've had don't have enough cardamom spice or vanilla/bergamot in it, so I'll ask for lavender syrup in the London Fog, next time. I think the tea sachets (Rishi brand) they use aren't ideal or robust enough. They should source from a local tea shop like Savoy in the Pinnacle Promenade. I'm glad they have plant "milk" options for the lattes, so that's a plus for the vegans and lactose intolerant.
I went there specifically to try their croffles - and ordered the Nutella banana version. It was amazing! Topped with a generous amount of banana slices, Nutella and cream. Chef's kiss!
Aesthetically, it has a nice wood, and Boho cushion feel, with various lighting. The only downside are the cushioned stools that are paired with the bench seating. Unless you're extremely long torsoed and sit on the stool, you're not going to eat comfortably on the table that's better matched with the bench seat's height. They should remove them and use the same standard seats they have elsewhere in the dining area.
Note: The order counter is farthest away from the door, and the pickup/waiting area is the counter to the left, once you enter. So disregard the crowd of people waiting, and go further in to place your order.
There are cute stationery sets that you can purchase to have the staff mail your letter to yourself/or to someone else at a specified date of your choice. Underneath the counters is a wall of letter slots with dates, so the staff knows when to mail it out to you. Kinda gimmicky, but it's nice to see people actually test their penmanship and letter writing skills. There are votive/tea lights that you can melt wax pellets for the chop/seal on the envelope. (See photos)
There were a few remote workers clacking away, but I couldn't tell if everyone had a convenient outlet near them. There's only 1 unisex bathroom, with no baby changing counter. The bathroom is wide enough for strollers and wheelchairs, but I'm not sure it's ADA compliant, since I don't recall any grip bars by the toilet.
I'll give them another try with tea, and update. It's a coffee shop after all, so maybe tea isn't their forte. The croffle is what brings me back - first time was to-go and the second time was dine in.
November 2024 Update: Banana Nutella croffle is still amazing. We even tried the Biscoff croffle which was drizzled in caramel. Better still, is that the low height stools are gone! In their place are standard seat height chairs with backrests. The iced chai latte today was sweeter than expected, but still not very...
Read moreOrdered two drinks. The baristas seemed to be backed up on orders so I was patient, but then almost 15 min later, they seemed to have been caught up on orders so I assumed that they’d start on mine and I’d get my drinks soon. Waited another 5 min and saw that the baristas weren’t making my order so I asked how long the wait would be. The girl barista took what seemed to be my order on a piece of paper out of the trash and said that they’d get it out to me soon. When it was ready, they got my order wrong and they had to remake it. The drink I ordered was alright. Though, I do like their Tiramisú Latte that I tried my first time visiting so maybe the drink I ordered just wasn’t for me. I stayed until closing doing some work, but closing isn’t until 6pm and the employees turned off all the lights at 5:57pm and were already standing at the door ready to leave, which I thought was kinda rude and unprofessional. I get wanting to get home after a long day of work, but you have ppl actually trying to enjoy the space for as long as the store allows (which is until 6pm), and turning all the lights off shows how much of an inconvenience the customers are to the employees. Even other customers verbally demonstrated how bothered they were by this and everyone seemed to leave a bit annoyed. I’d still come back, but only to order to-go (which I know will be most convenient for...
Read moreThis is my 4th time here. I’ve been trying something new each time. The flavors are unique than other coffee places and that is what makes this place stand out. They use a lot of unique flavored cold foam in their drinks and I like that. The Ube is delicious, but it depends who makes it. The honey haze was my least favorite only because the lavender is an acquired taste and not my thing, but was still drinkable. The Tropicana latte is my personal favorite because it reminds me of cookie butter. The tiramisu is delicious, but the espresso stands out more in this latte as it should with “tiramisu.” I think drinks are slightly larger if you order in house. To go is your normal size (I think). The croffles are indulgent. The biscoff is my fav, bc I obviously have a thing for anything cookie butter. I’ve never been during a busy time, it’s always been pretty relaxed. Location for me could be better. The prices are pretty average, but SEEMS like a lot if you are doing drink AND croffle. I haven’t tried any matcha drinks (I might do that next). I do wish they had online ordering, though you would want your order fresh and I can see where they can be a problem. The baristas are friendly and welcoming! They create wonderful flavors that...
