Greeting:The hostesses were friendly and efficient. I got the impression that they’d been expecting us and were glad that we’d arrived. We HAD reservations so they were, in fact, expecting us. But usually when you tell a hostess who you are they look down at their seating chart to figure out where they’re going to put you. Which is fine. But the lady at the hostess station seemed genuinely glad to see that we’d arrived. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Atmosphere: We loved the decorating, the local art and the rich colors. The restaurant is large and the tables are spaced well apart. COVID: Everyone observed COVID protocols. It irritates me when wait staff wear masks but wear them incorrectly, like they can't be bothered to pull them up even for just the minute that they're at the table. The staff at Theo's were observant and respectful in that regard. General note: If you're coming from anywhere else in the country you will likely be surprised how nonchalant NW Arkansas is about COVID. Employees wear masks but just about no one else does. Food and Wine: The food was very good. We started with the beef tartare. The way they serve it was like a poke. It was very good. Btw, I found their wine prices a bit higher than most. I usually get a Clarke & Telephone pinot noir when available, but I've never seem it at $19/glass before. I actually found their inexpensive pinot noir to be fine. Lodi Luna maybe? For entrees my wife had the gnocchi and I had the lamb. She liked the gnocchi but wasn't that about it. The lamb was very well prepared, cooked perfectly. It does have a strong herb flavor to it, which I enjoyed but may not be everyone's preference. I finished with the cheesecake, maybe lemon-lime? It was very good. It is served as a disk, or, pardon the description, a puck. It's not too light and it's not too dense. The crust was delicious (pistachio maybe?). Service: Our waiter was personable, engaged and professional. The waiters suggestions and advice were helpful. We had one small issue as our waiter dropped the ball on a couple of small things (eg: he said that he would bring us bread and butter but it never came). The manager checked on us. We had a very...
Read moreThe atmosphere was nice, it is Midway between fancy and casual. The menu and prices will have you believe you are at a high-end restaurant, however the food quality and portions are of fast food standards. I ordered swordfish, which I have had elsewhere many times, this was served as a thin disc of the meat that had been seared on both sides. Fish should flake apart with your fork, this was like a piece of pork chop, not even kidding. It was room temperature when delivered to the table and the broccolini, that it was served on top of, was cold and tasteless. I refused it and explained that a chef should never do to a fish what they had done. My Love ordered 20 Oz ribeye. The waiter comes and tells us they are out, but will substitute NY strip steak (16 oz) and will reduce the price. Ordered med-rare and the very center was, indeed med-rare, however the rest was medium and it was cool when served, like it was sitting in the kitchen for bit, before being brought to our table. The waiter stated he only had 2 other tables and one was leaving. He didn't bring us our food, somebody else did. They are NOT a steak house, let me make that clear. It was dry, cool and yet still had a decent flavor. We were hungry and we ate it. Not worth $45 by any means and he did knock off 5.00, as promised for the substitution, so it was $40.00. The manager was lacking in customer care or she has had so many complaints, she is just numb to them, I don't know. Having worked in the industry myself, not up to what I would consider a proper disposition. They brought us dessert as an offset to the meal. Not that good. Creme broulette is what they called it, flan is more of...
Read moreMy entrée was great. My cousin's steak was too salty (I like salt, but it caused her to have significant swelling that night and the next day). The menu needs to be more detailed and specific, as I ordered the Bone on Toast (and it did not describe what it was, but only described what kind of sauces/jams/toppings it came with). When the appetizer came out, I found out it was a large bone, cut in half, with exposed bone marrow (to be spread on small pieces of toast). This was more of a culture shock, really, as I had never had this before). I would not have ordered this if I knew what it was. That was a disappointment, and I felt bad that they made this for me, so I did not return it. (I did try it, however, and it was not something I would order again, but not because of how it was prepared, but just because it's not my 'cup of tea,' so to speak). The flavor of the bone marrow was not awful, but the texture was very fatty-like, and I couldn't get past the fact that my dog loves to eat this! The main issue I had was that I just wish I knew what I was ordering! (I should have asked the server, but did not). This place was great, otherwise, and I would return! It was a bit pricey (for 6 adults (5 with alcoholic beverages) and the other with water, the total was around $100 per person, after a 20% tip. The atmosphere was great, and allowed for conversation, with music in the background. Overall, a very nice place! I learned that there is another restaurant in a nearby town, with the same options! I'm from Florida, so I don't know much...
