I usually come here from Queens, NY. I take the train E 🚆 from 74st and Roosevelt Ave to Penn Station 🚉 From Penn, I take the New Jersey Transit 🚆 to Elizabeth; from Elizabeth, I walk to this restaurant, but when it rains, I take a Lyft cab 🚖...I spend about 1 hour and a half from my house to Se Salio el Pollo Restaurant... Today, Friday, my wife and I arrive at 7 pm, we order the classic Peruvian Rottisserie Chicken 🐔...my friends, I've dined in different Peruvian restaurants in Patterson, Harrison, West New York, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Wahington DC, Arlington, Virginia, San Francisco, Queens, Westchester, CT and Manhattan, but I never been served Pollo a la Brasa like in Se Salio el Pollo. Right here, you'll get your Pollo a la Brasa as if you were in Peru at any Pollerias; Pollo a la Brasa here is served succulent, juicy and 🔥. It's seasoned just to the point that you won't leave any remainings of Pollo a la Brasa on the plate, just the bones though lol...it's well complemented with a Huacatay based semi hot sauce...and Fries, and a portion of salad prepared with fresh lettuces, radish and finish with a ranch dressing like...we accompany our Pollo de la Brasa with a chilled Inca Kola... Our trip to get here is long, but when We have our first bite of this succulent Pollo a la Brasa, we forget about everything and believe it is worth every penny we spend on our long journey...
The downside is only about one thing, little things. For example, I saw the waiter rubbing his nose 👃 with his 👋, he never washed his hands and kept working. It's something that we didn't appreciate; it's not hygienic... please just keep in mind that food must be treated with respect. Consequently, your staff must keep their hands ✋️ clean at all times... Your customers will really appreciate it. Still, the Pollo a la Brasa here...
Read moreI decided to visit this place and purchase a combo (chicken, rice, fries and salad) since I was on a budget. When I first walked up to the cashier I said hello and I requested the menu and she was playing with her phone with no attempts to assist me and instead of handing me the menu she pointed at a corner and said “they are over there”. I went and grabbed it myself and returned to her ( she tried to fix her careless answer by attempting to grab the menu but at that point I stopped her and told her I was fine) Then I ordered my food for pick up and tip her $3, knowing that I was taking it home. However I changed my mind and decided to request to stay and eat there. Right away the girl and another worker said to me that I “couldn’t stay and eat there because I only purchase the combo” I felt very embarrassed since I had to tell my two children and mother to get up from the table and to go back to the car. I pray that this establishment open their eyes and realize that business is business whether is $30 or $300. It all adds up. I wish that God blesses them abundantly not only with customers but also with wisdom, and empathy since they seem to be lacking it. The food was decent but customer...
Read moreI’ve been in this place only two times , first time I order a soup, by the way I’m Peruvian and I had restaurants and my father was a chef all his life, iknie how Peruvian food should taste . I ordered the menestron soup, price was $7-8.00 dollars, and it was a disaster, it was a green liquid with 2 pieces if very hard beef I piece or. Or a d some floating pasta. No vegetables, or beans . Peruvian minestrone is got basil as a base, that is been mix with cheese, garlic, nuts . This “basil” was clearly from a jar bought in the store, tasting totally. Commercial . I understand business tries to save when preparing food, but , and I hope the owners learns from this review, if you are on this type of business please make sure the food is good, not a cheap copy , like this soup was. I decided to give this place a second chance and bough the roasted chicken with the fries, and I have to say it was really good. Hope the keep a consistent quality and flavor for this chicken and definitely learn how to cook real...
