El Popocatepetl — Restaurant in Roselle

Authentic Latin food, like Mexican food, are abundant in NJ, but somewhat difficult to spot for the average person. This place has great, authentic Mexican foods, none of that franchise malarkey. Good hours, 11 to 11. Sometimes, it can be a little on the slow side, but this isn't a fast food place. If you're in a rush, speak up. It's customary that once your food is served, to leave you in peace instead of being annoyed every 5 minutes like that practiced by traditional American trained franchise servers.

Anthropology: a telltale sign that you're in an "authentic" Mexican / South American restaurant... search for religious symbolism / mini altar containing religious artifacts. I like to photograph these. I found it on top of the soda fridge (see photo).

I recently dined at Popocatepetl Restaurant, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. The ambiance captured the essence of Mexican culture, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food, undoubtedly authentic Mexican cuisine, surpassed my expectations.

The tacos and quesadillas de carne asada were a flavor explosion, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The highlight, however, was the pozole soup. It was a symphony of rich flavors, and the depth of taste in each spoonful.

It is not a safe place for families the night of April 21, 2019 I visit this place with my family , the service since we arrived it was never friendly or professional ... but we decided to stay ... minutes later there was a confrontation of two rival gangs of the area which took this restaurant ascendant, endangering the safety of families who were dining at that time ... the terrible situation was the little security that employees gave their customers, for fear of reprisals not They had a prompt solution to this problem, from the point they refused to call the local police to control the situation ...
