2 of my girlfriends and I went to Carmelita’s tonight for dinner, it was a first time visit for all of us. The building itself is really cute and in the older part of Roseville. We found street parking about a block and a half away from the restaurant and didn’t mind that. We were able to walk in and ask for a table and were seated immediately. Their menu is pretty straight forward and not to frilly which made it easier for me to decide what I wanted, they had a big drink menu and their drinks sounded delicious. I was the DD tonight, so I didn’t have one. (For sure next time!) Don’t get me wrong we had good servers, unfortunately I just think they were stretched a bit thin and understaffed. But we were enjoying our food and talking so it wasn’t a big deal for us. We started off with the Queso Fundido as an appetizer along with the chips salsa and refried black beans they start you off with. WOW those beans were delicious and so were the chips. The Fundido was also good from what my friends said, very cheesy!! At our table we had the Grilled Vegetable Fajitas, Steak Fajitas and a Chicken Chimichanga. Everything came out hot and smelled delicious! Their regular refried beans that come with your food are so tasty and flavorful, I really enjoyed them along with the rice. My friend did say her steak was cooked fine, but the meat itself lacked some flavor. My other friend said the Chicken Chimichanga was really good and it was huge, they serve big plates here and we all left with a togo box. We also shared a dessert, the Churros and Ice Cream, they didn’t disappoint, I usually don’t care for filled Churros but they were yummy! And the Vanilla Ice Cream hit the spot! I did order one dinner togo as well the Pork Chili Verde and that was a WINNER!! So flavorful and fresh tasting, it was really good, I would definitely order again. All in all I would visit again, the food was good, the atmosphere is small, but cozy and the service was fine. Thanks for a full belly tonight...
Read moreGreat authentic flavors! We had a nice Sunday brunch in their new expanded patio area, which is a nice addition to their already meandering and immersive dining room. We started with a round of drinks including mimosas and margaritas. The complimentary chips were fresh and were accompanied by a delicious bean dip and a nice fresh and flavorful salsa. We ordered a guacamole which arrived in a very generous portion that was accompanied with a slightly spicy molé and some nice cotija cheese. We were provided plenty of extra chips by the attentive wait staff.
We listened to the house Mexican music as we socialized and enjoyed our chips and drinks. The brunch menu is a nice compliment to their regular lunch menu and definitely worth experiencing. We all ordered off of the brunch menu this time.
All of our food arrived quickly with large portions. The plates came out hot and were handled carefully by staff, as they should be. The sauces were delicious and all of the flavors of the dishes worked together nicely. We felt no pressure to finish our meals and were offered to-go containers for our ample leftovers.
If you are in the Roseville area and looking for a great sit down Mexican dining experience, you should definitely check out Carmelita's Mexican restaurant. It is very easy to access with ample free streetside parking in the area. This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember. It is definitely a staple in the Roseville area. I would describe the restaurant as a more casual sit-down dining experience, not a quick-service restaurant. If you are crunched for time it's probably best to call in a...
Read moreIve never wrote a review because the service was that bad, but the service was terrible here. Its Mother’s Day and there was a party of 11. I was aware they only let parties of 8 but it was my family and we were just trying to celebrate my mom. My mom called the place ahead of time they said they serve brunch until 2pm. WE GOT THERE AT 11:30. The waitress said no brunch for us, we then told her the brunch ends at 2 and she still refused. We ordered coffee and they gave us cups with lipstick marks on it. They didnt even wash the glass. Then it started to pour rain and they brought our food inside the lady told us we can sit at the bar. My boyfriend and I are 19. We were all just trying to enjoy our food after all that commotion, I didnt even get to take a bite without the bar manager coming up to me saying I couldn’t sit there. I said I am just trying to eat really quick im not being served alcohol. He still refused, and they sat other people down first knowing we had plates in our hand. Terrible service my whole family is Mexican, full Mexican and we love supporting local Mexican restaurants but the service that they were giving because they were upset with our party of 11 is just mind blowing. So disappointed, i didnt pay for my food nor did I eat I...
