Golden Koi Buffet — Restaurant in Roseville

If you're looking for edible food, that's NOT going to have you running back and forth from your bathroom for 24 hours+ - then I would skip this buffet. $53 dollars after tax for two adults to eat dinner, is a robbery for the food they serve here and I would never say that about an establishment lightly. I know it's a buffet, but endless flies should not be on the menu. To literally have your staff all have big yellow fly swatters on hand, and while were eating they're actively just SMACKING these bugs around in some attempt to make the dining experience less disgusting, is so uninviting to see and hear while trying to eat food of any kind. Literally all I got was the chow mien, a piece of the sweet and sour chicken, the chicken on a stick, and some fruit. THAT'S IT and I took just a few bites of that already slim selection and the same night, and today being the following day, I am sick to my stomach- as is the other adult I dined with. We both took a FEW bites, cut our losses with this super gross tasting and grossly over priced food, and left. Upon leaving I notice a table with to go boxes (at a buffet? Weird.) so I looked closer at the sign next to it and it says FOOD WASTERS WILL BE CHARGED AN EXTRA $10 PER PERSON FOR NOT FINISHING THEIR FOOD. What??? That's horrible. I support not wasting food but you're already a buffet for crying out loud. Your restaurants existence alone is a gross display of over eating and food waste. The whole experience was something out of Kitchen Nightmares. We just got out of there before they had time to check our table (while paying they ask where you sat even though they sat your originally and literally have a staff member inspect the plates) to avoid what would been an extra $20 fee between the two of us and got the heck out of there. Will never be back and I hope others heed this warning, unless they're really wanting to put their digestive system...

New UPDATE: Golden Koi now is serving roast duck all day and the prices is the same. Bad news is the duck isn't that great. It's duck all right, but it just doesn't taste like real roast duck like say from 99 Ranch. It's missing the roast duck flavor. It's just OK, and I wouldn't get too excited. I was excited till I tasted it. But the rest of the food here is still very good. The price for lunch now is $15.99. Last review was 4 years ago below.

UPDATE! The Koi Buffet is now open again! It's all the same great food as before. I just can't see the negative reviews here, cause service is great and the place is clean. The food is all fresh if you get here at a reasonable time. Best time is when they open! Fresh food and nobody has picked over all the food yet! I gotta go back for those wings and ribs!

Closed for now due to the virus thing, but I really can't wait till it opens again! This is the best buffet in the area for a reasonable price. It's under new management so it cleaner than before and the service is perfect. The food is a generous selection of Chinese foods that you don't normally see at most buffets.

What I really like are the fried chicken wings and the ribs! Yeah Chinese do the best Chicken and Ribs! They even have french fries here, just in case you don't want Chinese food. I've always found the food hot and fresh, but do go 1/2 hr before closing and expect all fresh food just for you, it won't happen. Go at opening 11am! I want this place...

If I could leave zero star review I would. If you are planning to come to this buffet for a large group choose another place because these people don’t know how to host large groups. We try to have a nice lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my family and ended up being charged a 15% gratuity tip because we had a group larger than seven people but these people did not pick up any plates or anything. Makes no sense to pay an additional 15% for terrible service. When we try to check out they messed up our whole bill because we tried paying separate and they ended up counting one extra adult for no reason and then the manager ended up yelling at me that the waitress counted nine adults when there was actually seven adults plus a teenage child I don’t know where she got this extra adult but the service was terrible and being charged extra money for nothing is also very unprofessional. I understand if you need to charge extra money to be able to clean a huge table but that did not happen therefore it was unnecessary. Find another buffet if you want to have a nice peaceful lunch or dinner with your family. In my Yelp review the owner replied saying my mom called her a bad word, this is simply not true because my mom doesn’t speak enough English to even know such a word.
