I'll be honest. We used to go to Outback pretty regularly, but after having 2 bad experiences in a row, we have not been to an Outback in over 10 years. I believe in second chances, but rarely do I go for a third. However, several friends have told me that Outback has really improved. That, coupled with an economical specials menu, persuaded me and my Beautiful Bride to give it another go this evening!
I must say, we were both very pleasantly surprised! We were greeted warmly and taken to our seats immediately! Our server, Laisha, brought us water, welcomed us, took our cocktail orders, and then skedaddled so we could peruse the options.
She came back shortly to check on us and took our orders. My Bride had a few questions, which she answered very knowledgeably. I must say, she took very good care of us in spite of the fact that she appeared to be quite busy. For a starter, we ordered the Sydney Shrooms. For our fellow aging Hippies, these are not magic mushrooms! They are extremely delicious, but they won't take you on a psychedelic adventure! I ordered the Aussie special, which came with soup or salad (I went with French Onion) , a 9 oz New York Strip Steak, my side a loaded baked potato, and Dessert (Chocolate Thunder Down Under). My Bride spoiled herself with grilled lobster tails and loaded mashed potatos. She also had the French Onion soup. Did I mention that they have a fully stocked bar with some really creative cocktail choices!
I won't go into excruciating detail. Suffice it to say that all of our choices were well prepared and served very quickly. The steak was a perfect medium rare. The Lobster was luscious. The French Onion soup is cheesy, rich and flavorful. The Dessert was huge! The Chocolate Thunder Down Under is a brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and chocolate chips! I really think you could split it easily three ways and everyone would be very satisfied. All the portions are very healthy. You might want to skip breakfast and lunch if you are going to have dinner here.
Bottom line, the Outback we visited this evening is nothing like the restaurant we fled a decade ago. It's obviously well managed! The staff is friendly and professional. The food is delicious and reasonably priced!
I'm so glad we gave Outback another chance! This proves that old expression! Third...

I don’t normally leave reviews, but WOW — our experience at Outback was so insanely amazing that I feel like shouting it from the rooftops!! From the second we sat down, we were greeted by the ultimate service wizard, DAN! This man didn’t just serve us food — he served up a world-class experience like we were at a five-star steakhouse in the heart of Sydney!
Dan was warm, charismatic, and sharper than a steak knife. He anticipated EVERYTHING. Drinks? Already on the table. Extra ranch? Didn’t even have to ask. It’s like he read our minds. Our blooming onion was perfectly timed, our steaks were on point.
He joked with us, made us feel like family, and somehow managed to juggle other tables while still making us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dan moonlights as a superhero or runs hospitality training for royalty.
We came in hungry, but we left with full bellies and even fuller hearts. DAN, you’re the real MVP. We’ll be back — and we’re only sitting in Dan’s section from now on. Give this man a raise. No — give him the keys to the Outback kingdom.

Strewth! You legends just made our day with that ripper of a reply! Honestly, dining at Outback felt like a full-on arvo with me mates down under — cold bevvies, top tucker, and service so good it’d make a koala do a happy dance.
Dan? Absolute top bloke. That fella’s got more charm than a sausage sizzle at Bunnings. He looked after us like we were royalty — anticipating every need, crackin’ jokes, and making sure everything was spot on from the first g’day to the last bite of dessert. If Dan was any more Aussie, he’d be riding a kangaroo and handing out Tim Tams with the check!
We’ll be back before you can say “fair dinkum,” and you better believe we’re joining Dine Rewards — if there’s free feeds or cheeky perks involved, count us in faster than a dingo after a meat pie.
Massive cheers to the Outback crew — you’ve nailed the vibes, the flavours, and the good ol’ Aussie spirit. Can’t wait to be back for another bonza feed!

Read moreWe were seated promptly enough. We did have a reservation. Our server came over quick enough and got our drink orders. She came back and took our orders. A different person brought us the bread, then a different person brought our meals. That was all fine but the girl who brought our orders had no idea who ordered what and started to put wrong meals in front of us. This is the problem when the server does not do the delivery. I know this seems to be the normal nowadays. Our server came over before any of us were even able to cut into our steaks to see if everything looked right. She never waited to see if the steaks were cooked properly. I ordered mine medium and it was still mooing on my plate. Finally got her attention and she said she would have them cook it longer. When I finally got her attention she said oh yeah it's coming. It should have been a priority!!! Well by the time I got my food every person at the table had finished their meals. So I awkwardly sat there watching them eat then they had sit and watch me eat mine. The manager delivered my food and asked if i wanted a to go box since everyone was finished. No, im hungry and wanna eat. Then after I was upset he advised me the meal would be removed from the bill. Well thank goodness he did cause now the damn thing was well done. When she did bring the bill she handed us the wrong tickets, then we noticed my meal was still on the ticket. When we told her the manager said it would be removed she said oh yeah he did tell me that. Why would you not make sure it was removed before giving it to us. We had our initial drinks when we got there and after that the drinks sat empty for the last 1/2 of our meals and she never came back to check on us after the initial time. Customer service has definitely gone down. It wasn't that busy in there that this type of thing should...
