It has been a VERY long time since I've eaten the food that "Sonic Drive-In" offers. And considering it's been nearly 15 whopping years (think back to the 2007 days when the iPhone debuted, Obama was elected in as the 44th President, and Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" was the biggest hit song). Well a lot has happened since then. Jump to the present in 2022 and I figure why not give this place a try again.
I regret to inform you that I was not very impressed at all with my experience. And I am focusing on their location in Roseville (off of Pleasant Grove Blvd and just south of Highway 65). I arrived at roughly 5:50pm during the late afternoon of Monday 7/18/2022. The layout of all Sonic locations is that you pull your vehicle into their ordering station (there are at least 20 of these at this location), push a red button, and within a minute the voice coming out of the intercom will take your order. If you don't wish dining at their ordering station, they do have a dedicated drive-thru. However, there is no indoor dining here.
This place has that nostalgia of fast food establishments from years past with the layout but this whole set up (at least for me) was a hot mess. First of all, it took awhile for them to take my order while the voice coming out of the machine was hard to understand and static. There was a menu displaying their combos as well as appetizers, breakfast options, and desserts. Additionally, there are several trash bins (that were severely overflowing) and a unisex restroom (that was in need of a serious cleaning).
I finally narrowed down what I wanted to order which was their "SONIC Cheeseburger Combo" priced at around $9.00 + tax. This included a single patty complete with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayonnaise, and ketchup. And of course a side of fries and a medium sized drink. Luckily it only took about 5 minutes until I received my food.
Now the only downfall which is all too common at many Sonic locations is that if you decide on eating there, it's either eating inside your personal vehicle or standing outside of your vehicle. No tables of any kind. When my food was brought to me, my burger and fries came in a brown paper bag with 3 peppermint candies. Overall, the flavor of the burger is just "meh" as this tasted much like a mediocre version of the Jack in the Box "Jumbo Jack". The fries were decent and crispy but it didn't do much to save the flavor of the burger. And even after requesting ketchup during my order, they didn't include any in the bag.
So this pretty much sums up my visit at "Sonic Drive-In". Probably one of the most forgettable experiences when it comes to fast food. Many of my close friends have raved about this place with stellar reviews but the food quality just wasn't there for me. Service was decent, prices were a little bit more on the expensive side, but food was below average. My rating,...
Read moreHi. I am writing this to inform whoever is in charge of this establishment about how nasty, rude, embarrassing your employees and staff is here at the Pleasant Grove location. This happened October 10, around 11pm. As my boyfriend ordered, a small cherry limeade, and a large order of mozzarella sticks , we were told to pull forward as we would get the total at the window. We finally got up to the window, very slowly the cashier, greeted us with the total only, did not repeat back the order like a cashier should. You can loudly hear another employee LOUD in the back, screaming, and cussing every other word. (She was so loud, that we could hear her as we were sitting behind another car in line.) I understand mix up happens, I’m a manager at a local food place as well. But the behavior of your staff was beyond disrespectful. The same cashier that you could hear yelling, and cussing, ended up talking about how they(the workers) messed up, but trying to make it seem like we were the problems, as you can hear her as loud as possible say “Well no one told them to pull forward!!” (When in fact we were told to pull forward) She then came to the front , and you can see said cashier and hear her more loudly, still talking about us, as another cashier had to jump in and tell her that we are still at the window and can hear her. Its a shame to have someone like that work for you, it says a lot about how you run your business without even meeting you. The employee or third party worker, that was there fixing something or whatever, looked extremely uncomfortable as he had to listen to this foul experience as well. I will be waiting for my refund, as I was charged twice. If my refund is not processed, I will be coming back in store to get said refund. I don’t care if it was $8 or $80. I hope this email reaches good hands. This was truly an awful experience. The worst experience at this sonic, as we...
Read moreThere arent many sonics and this one might be the reason. They are extremely slow especially the drive thru. I have lots of respect for the waitresses that can multitask rollerskating and delivering food to car windows. But I find it unnecessary and annoying yo the works if the overall service is slow and poor. It took 25minutes at the drive thru to get two large drinks, fries and chicken strips not mentioning the 10mins it took to order it at the window because the girl didn't know what anything was. After pulling up and waiting at the window for 10minutes I received one drink and was told to pull around to get the rest. I waited another 15 minutes to get a box and another drink. I was late to where I was going so I thanked them and pulled away... BIG MISTAKE! As soon as I got on the freeway I took a sip of my drink and it was completely wrong. I wasn't too mad but then I didn't receive fries and I only got three pieces of chicken. I was mad but couldn't do much since I left. When I got to my meet and handed my coworker her drink she immediately look at me in disgust and said she couldn't drink it. I ordered a large unsweetened peach tea for my diabetic coworker, but I got a larger syrup filled kinda peach tea. My order was completely wrong, cold and disgusting after waiting about 30minutes. The fastest part was when they took my card to pay for my meal. I commute to the bay a lot and the Sonic in Vacaville is way better and worth the stop if...
