I've been going to Hong Kong since I was a kid. I moved away to Texas and came back over a decade later to find it was still open "as a kid the food was amazing" it's had to have been in the same location for at least 20 years however it is clear that the son dose not share the passion of his father or grandfather altho being guided by what I believe to be his mother in the kitchen the food comeing out fresh is lacking in taste I got a small chicken Loman it lacked flavor only by adding soy did it pop my wife got the beef in broccoli it was ok however again only after adding soy and then we shared an orange chicken. The orange chicken was battered in flower not tampora it was still crisp however the chicken itself was very dry and tough the sauce had an almost vinger like taste to it the flavors for all of the food were there but they fell off lacking a bit in my opinion its lacking due to a possible lack of passion this place use to be amazing there's a reason a mom and pop place lasts 30 years this was my second visit since I've been back and my second let down I wanted to give a fare chance before leaveing a review I will give them one more shot with hopes that the older man is the one cooking or the kid finds the passion.
"You no your in a good Chinese restaurant when the decor is still the same as it was when you last visited 20 years ago I have high hopes that my next visit is...
Read moreI am sooo I have been living in Round Lake for a little over a year now and was told when I moved here this was the best chinese available that wasn’t ridiculously expensive. My family and I have ordered from there many times and while not always perfect it is usually pretty good. I think they are under new management or have new people in the kitchen because the food was DEFINITELY NOT on par last night or the time prior if I’m honest, but last night was the worst. You get a second chance because everyone has an off day but this was ridiculous. Most of what we ordered was under our overbooked with only a few items being made correctly or at least in a way that was edible. The fried rice had a weird citrus taste and and the uncooked pieces looked more like pellets of couscous. Too much dough to cover up the lack of filling in the dumplings which was also the case with their crab Rangoon. The best thing from our order was the egg rolls and even they were overcooked to the point of the vegetables being mushy. I would’ve given a two star rating since some of the food was ok but I’m being petty because I’m mad that I now have to find a new...
Read moreVery bad experience. Called to find out if they delivered or had a sit down. They did not deliver but said they were a sit down restaurant. We got there to find five cheesy booths and no heat. Unfortunately we made the mistake of ordering for carryout. After 10 minutes they gave me food in an open box. By the time i got it home it was cold. The egg drop soup was tasteless slop with no onions seasoning or flavor. The fried rice was not fried at all. It was more like wet rice with yellow food coloring. The egg rolls were so bad i couldn't even eat the soggy dough after removing whatever was in there. Oh yes they forgot the sweet and sour sauce, soy and mustard too. I ordered the hunan shrimp which had fresh ingredients but it was clearly not cooked in the sauce which leaked out on to the floor of my car through the open side of the unsealed container. What little sauce was left had no heat or seasoning. The white rice was good but the little bag of won tons were...
