Wow, this place impressed me and made my Saturday AM special. We like to use Entertainment coupons and this hidden gem was in our book. We had previously found it when it was a Mexican restaurant and sad to see it leave, as the family who owned it was so friendly. Today found that same feeling again. Felt like I was in a cute Door County WI cafe. Super friendly staff and I can see they work hard. Quite a bit of specials listed in two boards plus a lot to choose from menu for breakfast. They even have pumpkin pancakes and other pumkin items. I had something different called Chicken Fajita omelette. At first wasn't sure if I liked it, but it truly was yummy and something truly different for an omelette. Plus it came with the best crispy hash browns I've ever had at a restaurant ever and the best tasting pancakes I've ever had. Seems like all food is truly home made and one table at a time. Wait staff keep your coffee, water, etc filled at times. Wait staff have smiles on their faces and caring. I would have given one more star but I think booths need new seats and decor could be a bit more decorative. Lastly, I'm sure it was a complete accident but the waitress said my omelette fell off of the plate and they had to make me a new one. That was fine but my husband completely finished his breakfast before mine came and I think it was caused as it was in a small plastic plate whereas his was served (he also had an omelette) on a pretty ceramic normal size plate. I think they could stand to buy all matching plates as I saw a variety and serve a big breakfast on a normal size plate it a small plastic one. Food really is tremendous. Due to each tables food being made to order it seemed to have taken a bit longer than other places. That was fine with me as it tasted so good and again caring wait staff. Place is bright and clean, lots of parking but since it's so good you might have to wait for a table. It's sort of small and quaint but worth it. As soon as a family fishies it was amazing how quickly another family walked in to dine here. They had non stop flow of customers and every table was filled. To me this means really good food. Nobody had to wait more than five minutes. Great job Eggspress! Can't wait to come back again. I rarely rate restaurants unless the place super impressed me...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the only good thing was the toast. I am giving them 2 stars for the fast service and for getting a large order correct. My husband had the biscuits and gravy, he didn’t get into specifics but said that he didn’t like them. The pancakes were rubbery, you know the kind you need a serrated knife to cut? Pancakes should have just a slight crisp on the outside, even the taste of these was just off. The bacon, although good size pieces, was entirely too greasy. As if they cooked it in an inch of grease and never bothered to strain or pat some of the grease off. Bacon should be greasy but not sopping. The potato pancakes were burnt, too thin, and tasted like they may have come from a box. I couldn’t take more than 3 bites, I tried. It was nice that they provided both apple sauce and sour cream. The regular hash browns were literally just grated (probably Idaho) potatoes cooked. Zero seasoning or flavor, although some salt, pepper, and ketchup made them taste just fine. The omelette was similar, bland. No flavor. My husband didn’t even eat more than a few bites of his eggs. They did have these fantastic fried potatoes, although a bit greasy, they were seasoned well and tasty. We also ordered the Breakfast burrito and I’m still trying to figure out how they could make chorizo and what I think was some sort of salsa on the side bland. I just don’t get it. Overall, we will not be ordering food from them again. The prices were fair, in my opinion for portion size, but we ended up throwing most of the food out...
Read moreCame here for a Sunday morning breakfast. When we arrived it appeared relatively busy, no one greeted us at the door so we seated ourselves. After a brief wait the waitress brought menus and took our drink orders. She walked past our booth several times without asking if we were ready to order and spent a good deal of time socializing with patrons in the booth immediately adjacent to us. Once I got her attention and informed her we were ready to order she apologized for the delay and said she thought we were waiting on another person to join us. We then placed our order for two omelettes with hash browns and pancakes. Thirty five minutes later, no food, no explanation and other patrons who had arrived after we did got their food before us we decided to leave. When I asked for the bill for OJ we had received the waitress said our food was "coming out soon". I told her 30 minutes to prepare two omelettes was unacceptable, especially when the major the other patrons had arrived after us. Will NEVER go...
