So here we go again, another high spoken of establishment, let's see if it holds up to the hype. We started out showing up about 5, and only a 25-30 minute wait. Not bad for a Saturday night. As we are looking around, the decor is similar to a Texas roadhouse. Think of Texas roadhouse as a dollar tree and salt grass is the Walmart, it's higher end and fancier in appearance. Once seated, our server immediately introduced himself and began suggesting some beverages to try, I went with the peach tea and my wife went with raspberry tea. Both were amazing. The peach is sweeter but the raspberry one is less overbearing and smooth flowing, highly recommend. Looking at the starters were tricky due to them all looking so delicious. We went with the cheese fries and asked for jalapeños to be put on them, no issue with that. Maybe 10 minutes later it came out. Not a massive amount of fries but easily enough for 2 or 3 adults. They were delicious with just enough of every ingredient, highly recommend. Next time I want to try the rattlesnake bites. For the entrée, I ordered the steak and shrimp 8oz and my wife got the top sirloin 10oz. I sprung for the soup this time instead of salad and they brought out the potato soup. It is not your traditional potato soup, maybe a hint of cheese flavor but absolutely mouthwatering. My wife got the salad and could not stop getting bites of mine. The house bread is just the standard table bread but nice touch either way. Out comes the steak shrimp and loaded baked potato. When I say this steak was amazing, it does it little justice. It was cooked to perfection and was so tender enticing you to take another bite. It had a small amount of butter on the top that when spread on just complimented it yet not overpowering it. If you need steak sauce, you might need to have your taste buds checked. The shrimp was meaty and came with cocktail sauce. My wife had 0 complaints about her meal and a smile sit on her face during the entire evening. We finished the dinner up with a slice of carrot cake. It was huge!! The frosting was delicious with the nuts and raisins in the cake itself. I would recommend the cake if you love carrot cake. I'm partial towards my own homemade cake but it was still tasty, my wife liked theirs better than my homemade one. Let me say that our server was well above expectations. He was present everytime I needed him and at one point I was going to ask for a refill of my tea but he was already on his way to our table with a full glass for me before I had the chance to ask him. Overall we absolutely loved this place. I have wanted to eat here for about 9 years and finally got the chance. I highly...
Read moreSaltgrass used to be top notch. It was our go to place for celebrations but the last few times have been meh. It is my son’s birthday and he chose Saltgrass. When we walked in, the hostess looked at us and immediately ignored us. We stood at the podium and waited several minutes to be greeted with “what do you want?” We replied, “ to eat?” The two hostesses (there were two) then proceeded to ignore us for several more minutes. They worked on their IPADs, then one of them asks. “ 4?” When we had already told her 3 and there were no Other people in the lobby to be sat. We were sat at a table and we waited and waited while servers passed by our table. I then saw a couple taken to a table about 10 feet away. The two people waited a couple of minutes and a server went up to them and greeted them and immediately got them some drinks. At that point my husband went to speak to a manager. While my husband was talking to the manager, I noticed that the table next to us had one server bring them food, another server brought them an appetizer and another server brought them more drinks. At this point we still had no server or drinks. My husband came back with the manager and a server. We gave our server our order and off he went. He took his time bringing us drinks and brought the salad with dressing when we specifically asked for no dressing on top. The food did come out quickly and the Pat’s ribeye and strip were good. The Cajun steak was bland. At this point we had two assistants come offer us a free dessert or appetizer. I needed more tea and when I asked our server he acknowledged me but then went to speak to another table and bused another table. All the while no tea for me. We did not say something to get free food. The general manager came and spoke to us. She said it is not normally so bad. My question is, “ why did we get bad service all around?” Was it because we were dressed casually or was it the color of our skin?” We are Landry Club members and we have never had such bad service in one of their chains. We had to drive 45 miles to eat at this establishment and this will be the last time. There are too many choices and eating out is expensive. I will be canceling my membership. The food can be the best but when the experience is shoddy, the food does not...
Read moreI would never eat at this place ever again. Here are just some of the issues that we had.
It was my son's eighteenth birthday. I asked if They sang happy birthday. I was told by my waitress, no, and if they did, they would be terminated.
Wow. What kind of liberal place is this.... Did someone's feelings get hurt.
I asked, do you guys do any like dessert for their birthday. I was told if you buy the dessert then We can pit a candle in it, but we cannot light it.
I ordered mashed potatoes. It looked like they scraped, then center out of a baked potato and put it on a little plate, and that's what it tasted like. It did not taste like mashed potatoes.
My son ordered a nine ounce steak. It looked like it was a five ounce steak.
We ordered a 22 0z porterhouse steak.... We received a t-bone steak Apparently the Cooks did not know the difference or they didn't care.. It took us a while to get our food.So by the time we got our steak, I was already over it.
I witnessed one of the head ladies yelling at a waitress. Because the table in the middle aisle was a split table that was joined together, and it was not turned to a certain degree of an angle to where the line faced a certain direction.
The bill came out pretty fast, but once I asked if they did a military discount and they said yes, it was fifteen minutes before they came back to my table.
Our bill was $104.00.....mcdonalds Would have tasted better and got quicker service.
I feel like this Restaurant gets business because it is in between 2 hotels and It is next to the interstate.
Reality: Texas roadhouse has better food better bread, They'd like to have conversation with the customers to make them feel like they are wanted. They do the small things like give a dessert for a celebration, especially a birthday. I have never been to a steakhouse to where they were so liberal, that if they did anything to acknowledge a celebration, they could be terminated. The only reason we ate at this restaurant was because my son wanted a steak for his birthday and the other steakhouses were in austin and had a wait.... I could see why this place did not...
