An Extraordinary Birthday Celebration at Double Cut Restaurant!

I had the immense pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Double Cut Restaurant on November 9th, 2024, and I can confidently say it was an experience that will be cherished for years to come. From the exceptional food to the stellar service, every moment was crafted to perfection, making the evening truly unforgettable.

The food was nothing short of spectacular, with a personal touch that elevated the dining experience to new heights. The Sous Chef, Demetri, wowed us with a selection of incredible sushi dishes that were not even on the menu. Each piece was a masterpiece of flavor, texture, and presentation, showcasing Demetri's talent and creativity. These exclusive dishes were a delightful surprise and a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to going above and beyond for its guests.

Adding to the culinary excellence, the Head Chef personally visited our table to ensure that the steaks we ordered were tailored to our exact preferences. My Tomahawk Rib-eye was an absolute showstopper—perfectly cooked, expertly seasoned, and so tender that every bite felt like a celebration in itself. This level of personalization and attention to detail truly set Double Cut apart as a premier dining destination.

The service was equally remarkable, led by the extraordinary Supervisor Olivia Herold. Olivia’s professionalism, warmth, and genuine care for our experience shone brightly throughout the evening. She ensured that every aspect of our celebration was flawless, making us feel like VIPs from start to finish.

Our waitress, Annabelle, was a ray of sunshine who made the evening even more enjoyable. Her attentiveness, charm, and ability to anticipate our needs made us feel incredibly well cared for. Annabelle’s enthusiasm and dedication to creating a memorable evening added an extra layer of magic to the celebration.

To top it all off, the restaurant’s guest singer, Ronnie Hall, delivered a touching and heartfelt rendition of "Happy Birthday" just for me. His soulful performance was not only moving but also made me feel incredibly special. It’s not every day that you are serenaded by such talent, and Ronnie’s gesture added a deeply personal and unforgettable touch to the evening.

Double Cut Restaurant truly redefined what it means to celebrate a special occasion. From the exclusive sushi dishes by Sous Chef Demetri to the custom-crafted Tomahawk Rib-eye by the Head Chef, the exceptional service from Olivia and Annabelle, and the heartfelt serenade by Ronnie Hall, every detail was thoughtfully planned and perfectly executed.

This was more than a dinner—it was a celebration of life, love, and exceptional hospitality. I will be raving about this experience to everyone and can’t wait to return for another unforgettable evening. Thank you, Double Cut Restaurant, for making my birthday one of the most memorable nights of my...

From beginning to end the service here was by far the BEST service we have had in a while. We originally had a reservation for 5pm and cancelled bc the event we were attending was longer than expected. We called the restaurant about 5:30 and explained what happened and they told us we could still come in as a walk-in. Once we arrived the hostess was so welcoming and accommodating seating us immediately.

Our server, Nicholas arrived promptly and took our drink order and began explaining the starters. Once we ordered a starter we reviewed the entrees and Nicholas again offered some great suggestions. We decided on the big tomahawk meal which trust me, can easily feed 3-4 people. I enjoyed the steak, but would have preferred if they didn't cut the whole steak before serving. I believe it needed to rest a little longer. The sides were good, but my hubby said they got a little heavy handed on the rosemary which was in the butter and bearnaise sauce on top of the asparagus.

The burnt ends we had as a starter were not bad, but to me some pieces were too dry. My hubby actually loved them more than the tomahawk.

We finished the meal off with a chocolate cake we couldn't finish.

Pros:. The service was EXCELLENT... BETTER THAN SOME HIGH END STEAKHOUSES! If you go, ask for Nicholas to serve you. HE IS TOP NOTCH!!!

Cons:. I know this restaurant is attached to Kalahari resort, but there were TOOOOOOO many kids to truly enjoy this date night. We would have loved to just sit for awhile, but I could not take anymore time listening to the toddlers behind us playing baby shark over and over again! The restaurant comes off as high end, but serve more families (at least while we were there). I believe the price point is too high if you are dining as a family!

Overall not a horrible experience, but I would recommend sitting couples in another area away from families! We made the hour and a half drive to Austin for our event and to eat here, but I wouldn't make the drive or spend the money again bc of...

My wife and I are locals and had been wanting to come here for a while. We decided a Friday Date Night would be the perfect time.

I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. When we showed up around 7:00 pm on Friday evening, the place was only about half way full, however we were told that the only available seating was at the bar since everything else was reserved. We sat at the bar. It was nice and had the full menu. It's worth noting that the entire time we were there for our visit, the booths that were empty when we arrived were still empty when we left, and there were more booths that emptied out while we were there. Reservations or not - we could have been sat, served, and left.

Appetizers: Something my wife had her eyes on ever since the place opened up was the "Hanging Bacon". It comes with 4 strips of bacon and a small cold piece of corn bread. The flavor was good, but when you pay $19 for 4 strips of bacon, you don't expect that one of those strips is so burnt and crispy that you may as well be biting into a piece of charcoal.

Main Course: We got the 20 day dry aged steak. The flavor was ok, but when you order a steak from a place like this, you don't expect it to be 2-3 temperatures undercooked when you get it. We just packed the whole thing up and left. At least the home microwave can get it up to the medium temp we ordered it to.

Sides: The creamed Spinach was amazing! The Steamed Broccoli is the size of a small tree and comes with yummy melted cheese that you can dip or pour.

Desert: No thanks. We've had enough: Burnt Appetizer, Undercooked Steak, a server who forgot about us and never asked if we even liked it, much less how things were going. Keep in mind - we were sitting AT THE BAR. We were literally 5-10 feet away at all times, and the guy didn't hear us when we asked for his attention, nor did he check on us. The only good thing was the music from the talented piano player / singer. We grabbed desert from another place...

My recent visit to Double Cut Steakhouse at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock presented an evening of contrasting experiences. While certain elements shone, the centerpiece of the meal left much to be desired, preventing a truly elevated dining occasion. The culinary journey began on a high note with the drink selection, which was commendably extensive and well-curated, offering a delightful prelude to the meal. Similarly, the vanilla crème brûlée proved to be a delightful conclusion, boasting a perfectly caramelized sugar crust and a rich, creamy custard beneath. These aspects truly reflected a commitment to quality and execution. However, the main event, the New York Wagyu Strip, was, regrettably, the most disappointing Wagyu I have ever encountered. For a cut renowned for its exquisite marbling and unparalleled tenderness, this rendition fell significantly short, lacking the characteristic richness and melt-in-your-mouth quality one expects from such a premium offering. It was a stark contrast to the promise of "Wagyu" and a considerable letdown given the price point. The service and ambiance were adequate, neither particularly outstanding nor overtly deficient. The staff was attentive enough without being overly engaging, and the atmosphere, while pleasant, didn't quite achieve the sophisticated and immersive experience that a high-end steakhouse often strives for. In sum, Double Cut Steakhouse offers a pleasant enough setting and some truly enjoyable ancillaries, particularly in its beverage program and dessert. Yet, for a venue positioning itself as a premier steakhouse, the crucial element – the steak itself – was surprisingly underwhelming. While the potential for an excellent dining experience is evident in parts, the inconsistent quality of the star attraction leaves one with a sense of unfulfilled expectation.
