I really wanted to like this place, but it seems the majority of their business relies on guests looking to avoid dining at Kalahari—resulting in minimal effort from the establishment itself. The hostess at the front was incredibly disrespectful and completely oblivious. The manager was a complete D-bag. The overall environment—from the excessive noise to the pace of table turnover to the service—was mediocre at best, amidst the chaos. There were a few bright moments: our servers Claudia and Julia were incredible, even though we witnessed their manager treating them poorly right in front of us. Initially, We were seated in the back next to a very large, extremely loud party of 15. The room had awful acoustics, and the noise was overwhelming. When we requested to move, we were told no tables were available because they were “reserved.” However, just 30 minutes earlier, when I called, I was told they don’t take reservations. Therefore, how can you not have any available tables if tables are reserved when you do not take Reservations?!?!? All I asked was to be moved to another table and have ours given to someone else, which would not result in a net loss of seating. I have a hearing impairment from my military service, and still the volume made it genuinely uncomfortable. No one could accommodate us—until Claudia stepped in to help. Then, I witnessed the manager reprimand her for trying to move us to a table in the main room. All they have to do is put some sort of decoration on the wall, like some fake greenery to muffle out some of the noise. So again: how can you say tables are reserved if you claim not to take reservations? Lastly quality, the food was average, I don’t believe I will feel bad from eating it, but could’ve used a bit more given the circumstances. This business is poorly run, and if it continues this way, it will eventually fail—mark my words.

We came on a Sunday afternoon, pretty much lunch time. It was extremely packed, big parties and non. The parking is a little confusing but generous. Service was slower but attentive, if that makes sense. The food came out slow, but we were kept up to date on food status. We waited for chips and drinks when we ran out but didn't have to ask for refills of either. The chips were homemade, and the salsa had a good kick. We got queso as an app which was great, can't go wrong there, and it saved us during the wait of the meal. However, they have two different size versions. The larger is definitely on the smaller size compared to other restaurants. For meals, we got birria tacos, and we botana tacos, which were street tacos. I got it with beef/chorizo. It was extremely messy, but by far the best tacos I have had in Austin. The flavor was out of this world with their green creamy sauce. It was spicy where your nose ran but so flavorful. Their tortillas were dipped in oil, another flavor avenue, and the tacos were packed, so you were left full. The birria tacos and consommé were just okay, lacked the flavor we were looking for. However, we have gotten their quesa-birria delivered before. That delivery actually has so many mess ups with missing food, no consommé. Yet the quesa-birria was sooo good..made with real, large tortillas, and was stuffed with white cheese and meat. That's what prompted us to try to dine in. We will definitely return to try other things and will bring patience in the case it's just always busy, which is perfectly fine.

Decided to give this establishment a try since a lot of people had been giving great reviews. Well, I was truly disappointed, heck not disappointed....stupefied more like it. I couldn't not believe the reviews after trying their dishes. I ordered the carne guisiada lunch meal, with an horchata and for appetizer we went with the pupusas. The pupusas were literally the only dish that was great. When the waiter brought over the guisada dish I thought oh yum it is here, he even proceeded to let me know the plate was hot! And allow me to say the only hot thing on that plate was literally the plate. Now, I am to assume that everything else, like the meat itself was pulled from the refrigerator, placed in a microwave for about 1.5mins and then served on the plate. The plate was probably placed over fire because true, it was hot. The rice was nasty as if it had been cooked from a store bought bag and microwaved and the beans, well, they tasted charred. After eating a bite of this meal, I lost my appetite! Literally!!! The drink, horchata, it literally tasted as if they had watered down sweetened condensed milk and then added a cup of cinammon to it. Beyond disgusted by both the cold dish and distasteful drink. The pupusas, as mentioned previously, was the only "hot" dish and had a pleasant taste. Due to my first experience here, I cannot continue to give them my business nor recommend family or friends to this establishment. Anyone else, you are more than welcome to and I truly hope you have a better experience than I did.

If you’re looking for a lively atmosphere, delicious food, and stellar service, look no further than Mas Fajitas! My recent visit to this fantastic restaurant exceeded all expectations, thanks to the incredible service provided by Ferro and Roman, who truly made our meal unforgettable.

From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere filled with vibrant colors, lively music, and the tantalizing aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine. The decor beautifully captures the essence of a traditional Mexican cantina, making you feel like you’ve been transported to another world.

Once seated, we were fortunate enough to have Ferro as our server. His friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of the menu made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. He took the time to explain the different dishes and even made some excellent recommendations based on our preferences. It’s rare to find a waiter who is so genuinely enthusiastic about the food he serves, and it showed!

We started with their famous queso and salsa absolutely delicious! Ferro made sure we had everything we needed, checking in regularly to ensure our drinks were full and that we were happy with our choices. The attention to detail was impressive, and it made us feel valued as customers.

When our main courses arrived, I was blown away by the presentation and flavor. I ordered the sizzling fajitas, which came out on a hot skillet, surrounded by vibrant peppers and onions. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the portion size was generous definitely enough to share! My dining companion chose the enchiladas, which were equally delightful, smothered in a rich and tangy sauce.

Just when we thought service couldn’t get any better, Roman had the rest of our party. He brought an infectious energy and enthusiasm that only elevated our experience further. Roman was attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations as well. Their teamwork was seamless, and it was a joy to see them work together to ensure every guest felt taken care of.

As we enjoyed our meal, both Ferro and Roman made it a point to check on us frequently, engaging in friendly conversation and making sure we were completely satisfied. They even offered to customize our dishes to our liking, asking if we wanted extra spice or specific ingredients. It felt more like dining with friends than being served at a restaurant!

Overall, my experience at Mas Fajitas was nothing short of outstanding. The combination of delectable food, a lively atmosphere, and, most importantly, the exceptional service from Ferro and Roman made this visit truly memorable. They went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect, and I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and attentiveness.

I highly recommend Mas Fajitas to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable Mexican dining experience. With servers like Ferro and Roman, you’re not just another customer you’re treated like family. I can’t wait to return and savor more of their delicious dishes, all while being welcomed by such amazing people! Bravo, Mas Fajitas, for delivering an...

UPDATE (5/1/2025) After a frustrating experience during our last visit to Mas Fajitas, we weren’t sure we’d be back. Our previous server was inattentive—we had to repeatedly ask for things, wait far too long for basic service, and when we were ready to check out, he stood behind our table talking to another guest for over 15 minutes. If you’re like me, that’s an eternity when you’re ready to pay and leave.

This time, the experience was night and day compared to before. The atmosphere felt more welcoming, the service was spot-on, and the food—as always—didn’t disappoint. We usually go for the Caldwell Special, and it hit the spot again.

What really made the difference this time was our server, Roman. He was attentive, friendly, and just all-around excellent. Honestly, I looked for something to criticize and came up empty. Roman single-handedly changed our opinion of this place, and thanks to him, we’ll be back.

Lots of food and fairly good, but the service could improve. We felt ignored even though there were mostly empty booths. The server could not identify our orders (we both got fajitas but I got the much spicier version).

3/29/2025 We decided to give this place another try, as we've enjoyed it several times over the past year. Unfortunately, today's experience was the worst service we've had here. Our server was incredibly slow with everything, and when we were ready to leave, we waited over 15 minutes just to get our check.

What made it worse was that he was busy chatting with someone at a nearby table, completely ignoring our attempts to get his attention. I made eye contact, hoping he'd notice—we even resorted to the universal ‘check, please’ gesture—but it still took several more minutes before he finally brought it over.

It’s disappointing to see such poor service at a restaurant with such great food. If it weren’t for the quality of the dishes, we wouldn’t consider coming back. Hopefully, management addresses these issues because this place...

My husband and I dined here 10/1 for the first time hoping to find a new go-to spot, unfortunately that was not the experience we had.

Red flag #1: Blond hostess was eating food and licking her fingers while touching the menus and silverware- we should have walked out at that moment but regretfully we did not.

#2: None of the employees wear masks- we're still in a pandemic at the very least servers should be wearing masks while handling good. Especially when employees are walking around coughing and sneezing

#3:Sodas didn't taste the way they're supposed to-it happens sometimes so not that big of a deal, but definitely didn't help the already poor situation

#4: The silverware was not clean and had dried food on it

#5: My husband was struggling to decide between the lunch fajitas and the regular combo fajitas, he asked the waiter if the regular combo was a large portion to which she said yes. So you can imagine how surprised we were when his plate arrived with only 6 skinny slivers of meat (3 beef, 3 chicken), I can't imagine how small the lunch serving is.

#6: I ordered the chicken flautas, usually a favorite of mine, but these had an aftertaste that I still had in my mouth after we left. The guacamole also looked very dull and way too liquidy to be fresh

The only positive note I can give is that our server was very kind and attentive, I wish I knew her name, I believe it started with a "K."

Overall not a great experience and we will not be returning and will make sure our friends and family don't make the same mistake we did.

If you would like true, authentic flavors for the same price and better quality there are several in the area, I highly recommend:

El Pollo Rico- great flautas with no after taste, and you get four compared to two here for the same price

Lupe's Tortilla- Amazing fajitas and a hearty portion

Tequila's- Great queso, good drink selection,...
