Firstly, I was astonished by the many vegetarian and vegan submarine choices. From vegan chicken to veggie based steak. The fixings are plentiful and very well thought up.
I immediately felt the warmth from Ike’s staff. The gentleman who took my order helped me with my selection. Since, it was my first time visiting; I really was a little overwhelmed and had questions. He put me at ease and eagerly offered me a number of ways to complete my order.
I decided on a number two. Philly cheesesteak with vegan steak and all the toppings. Before I begin to explain how tantalizing the sub was; let me describe the bread. Freshly baked, not subway style more bakery style. My server explained that their Dutch bread was the most popular. I was in another sort of mood so, I went with the French. Oh my, warm crusty and soft on the inside; I knew we were an instant match.
The sub was seductively succulent with all the proper trimmings, to balance it out. Ike’s spreads a perfect layer of Garlic aïoli in place of common mayo. The aïoli really seemed to tie the sub together.
The only needs improvement, I observed was that my onions, peppers and mushrooms ought to have been sautéed with the steak. By the way, their mushrooms are certainly not from a salt water filled can! They seemed to be baby portos. The provolone cheese was not a processed cheese product. Oh no, it was real beautiful provolone, baby.
Sum it all up, and yes! I’m in love with Ike’s subs! I most certainly will be back. The smell of the warm bread alone, is enough to hook someone. Clean, delicious, pleasant, helpful and largely unforgettable; Ike’s...
Read moreThis is literally the first time in my life I have asked for my money back after taking 2 bites.
The sandwich was listed with "Halal chicken, artichokes, Caesar dressing..." I was confused after my first bite, as it had the consistency of a VERY wet tuna salad. After the 2nd bite, I opened the sandwich and saw that it was just a dripping wet white mess. It looked exactly like a tuna salad with way too much dressing. It was disgusting. When I went to the counter to explain that nowhere on the menu did it say anything to indicate it was a chicken salad sandwich vs what was advertised, both girls were indignant and near argumentative.
There were only 3 other guests in the building; all were already eating... yet my sandwich took 20 minutes. The music is so loud that I couldn't even hear them call my name from just 2 tables away from the counter. The payment asks for a tip for the cashier. Who did nothing more than take my order. Does this person get paid less than minimum wage? Is he providing an above & beyond service?
This was my first and last time to come here. They finally refunded me after several...
Read morevisited on 7/20/25, ordered 2 sandwiches and sat outside on the patio. came in 10 minutes later to check on the food, and the young woman who took my order (wearing a powerpuff girl tshirt) ignored me and kept working. after a few minutes of waiting she looked over and said "Yeah im still working on it" and pointed to what she was doing. I walk back outside, and wait another 10 minutes before going back in. a man working approaches me and asks the name. he walks over to the woman and asks the status. She rolls her eyes and says "yeah its not a pickup, tell her im STILL working on it" first of all, nasty attitude! secondly, lets keep in mind its 2 sandwiches...
