Our New Favorite Chicken Spot: A Family Night Success!
Family nights are all about good food and great company, but sometimes picking a place can be a bit of a gamble. Recently, we decided to try out a "new" chicken restaurant in town—at first, we were a little hesitant. It looked promising, but you know how it goes with new spots. The last thing you want is to end up disappointed after all the hype.
But, I’m happy to report that we were all pleasantly surprised. The fried chicken hit the mark. Crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. It was exactly what we’d been craving. The sides? Just as impressive. The coleslaw was creamy but not too heavy, providing the perfect crunch to balance out the richness of the chicken. The mac & cheese was cheesy and comforting, and even the beans were spot on.
Now, not everything was a winner. We were pretty excited to try the flan for dessert, but it was not the best. It was way too creamy for our liking, and the caramel sauce was overwhelming. And trust me, I love caramel, so that’s saying something.
But here’s the thing—despite the flan being a bit of a letdown, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. And if I could make one suggestion to take this place from good to great? Add mashed potatoes to the menu. I think they’d be a perfect pairing with that fried chicken.
Overall, we were left full, happy, and ready to come back. We found a new favorite chicken joint, and I think you should...
Read moreWas looking forward to trying a new chicken place but was let down immensely. The first issue was that the order was incorrect. I ordered both fried and grilled chicken and didn't get the fried chicken. The order was also missing the rolls. The empanadas were filled with flavorless mush. Everything was cold, and to top it off, two of the thighs were bloody in the center. The mac and cheese was disgusting and lacked any actual cheese flavor or texture of any kind. The beans tasted like ranch style out of a can. The yucca fries and the creamy jalapeño were the only things we liked. To top it off, you cannot call the restaurant directly for any issues. Instead, you call a customer service number, and they make you submit pictures via email. I'm not expecting a refund and will probably just dispute the charge with my bank. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? I won't be trying the food again to find out. Just my two cents. Proceed with caution. Sharing a picture of the mac and cheese; the bloody chicken went straight in the trash. One more thing..the reviews are very suspicious..most profiles only show one review ever posted and it's...
Read moreHad a really great first experience. The rest have been pretty subpar. Basically if the Campero fried chicken is cooked in fresh oil and recently fried, it's really good. I'm not a skin guy but this was great. It's not spicy at all but still flavorful and my son likes it a lot and he's not a skin guy either.
However if the chicken is cooked in old reused oil and has been sitting under the heat lamp for a bit it's not good at all. Unfortunately that version seems to be more common.
They also have the slow roasted grilled chicken. Personally I’m a fried chicken guy but I really really liked this. Great thing is for orders of four pieces or more you can do half and half which gives a nice variety. The chicken is grilled really well and has a slight lemony taste.
I still need to explore the sides more but the mac and cheese is decent for the kids and the beans were alright.
Prices aren't great. It'll run you just under 3 dollars per piece of chicken. Overall i would say 3.5,...
