My husband and I decided to give this place a try for a date night on Saturday April 22nd at around 8:30PM and when we arrived there was a wait list, which consisted of a sign saying to write our name on a sheet of paper and to leave our phone number if we wanted to wait in our car. My husband and I did just that bc we were too cold to wait outside. Luckily, we got a parking spot right in front on the restaurant, so it was no biggie. About 20 minutes later we watched a boy that worked there come out and scratch all the names off the list without calling anyone prior to that and then proceeded to sit a couple that was just walking up to the restaurant. We waited a few minutes to see if perhaps they were just getting a seat at the bar but they were actually seated at a table that had just became available bc we watched the people that were sitting there leave the restaurant. We then went inside and asked about the wait for 2 people and the same boy told us it was going to be 30 minutes, I then asked him why he had just scratched everyone’s name off the list without calling first and he told me that he “most likely” did call, we just didn’t answer and when I told him, I watched him not make any calls, sit the other couple, and then scratch everyone else off the list and he said “well there’s nothing I can do, you still have to wait bc there are no tables available”. No apology, NOTHING! I do not mind waiting and I understand the limited availability but this boy has no business working in the customer service industry, if he can’t have the courtesy to make a call to a customer who has been waiting to get seated! If the manager/owner reads this and thinks I’m lying, you are more than welcome to check your caller ID and verify the outgoing calls. This kid literally ruined...
Read moreFinally got to try this place out..had about a 20 minute wait on a Wednesday which I charge to the fact the place is small and feels very cramped. There's no hostess or a check in desk so you walk in and just stand until someone notices you. Our waitress was just ok..could definitely use some service etiquette training. She reached over my drink and right in front of my face to hand the check to someone next to me instead of walking around the other side. It seemed short handed there was I think a total of maybe 5 people on the floor and they were super busy so maybe they weren't expecting it on a Wed. either. When I ordered a mango mojito the waitress wasn't sure the girl at the bar could make it 🤔 She was able to and it was ok a bit chunky . The brisket tacos, guiso with papas and rice and beans were good. I would probably give it another try just cause the food was good and the young guy cleaning tables and serving food was so nice and friendly.
Update went yesterday 7/21 and I can say it's a hit or miss. I had fish and veggies and it was NOT good at all The fish was burned and the veggies were sweet. Not worth it at all. With that said, we had a friend who had their wedding reception and the food was very good. Either eat, I'd say stick to what you know is good or just opt for...
Read moreBeautiful little spot , looks welcoming. We ate dinner this past Saturday with our children. The staff was very attentive and friendly. My husband ordered a Chile Relleno with beef, which my husband said it was okay , but he could not taste or see the actual Chile (pepper ) . It was paired with rice and beans . I ordered the spinach and mushroom quesadillas, with a side of veggies . The quesadillas where soggy and the spinach was way overcooked. Definitely the cook did not prepared when ordered. The veggies tasted out of a frozen bag and tasted like they where sautéed in chicken broth . The chips and salsa where not even tasty . The hot sauce tasted more like it had spices , probably cumin or oregano . I really wanted to like the food because we live in Rowlett and we usually drive to eat at Downtown Rockwall or sometimes Dallas . Even my 5 year did not like it . As for cocktails, they where not good either . I ordered a Mohito, because the wine selection was poor . The mohito was not tasty at all. My husband ordered a blue margarita, all you could taste was cheap tequila. I know that this is a Latin cuisine and maybe that is why the wine selection was poor. I am vegan and I am always looking for places that offer vegan food...
