Rumdoul — Restaurant in Rowlett

My family and I were out on a hunt for a new restaurant to try. While I don't write reviews on Yelp, I always utilize it to try and find a restaurant that is highly recommended and ran into this restaurant with a raving review! I decided to invite a group of my friends and my family to eat here!

It was by far one of the best decisions we made! We will definitely come back to eat here! I haven't referred a lot of restaurants in the past but this is one I will without a doubt refer to my friends and families. For me to write a review on Yelp means it's a MUST to taste their food and enjoy their services!

The food is amazing! Not only were they very tasty, but you can tell that they are well prepared. Every ingredient is cut well and they use good quality meat. No cheap ingredients. They use chicken breast which in most asian restaurants, they use dark meat to cut down on cost. My eldest daughter is a health fanatic and very picky with her choices. She couldn't stop talking about the lettuce wrap she ordered! She said it taste so delicious but the best part was that it was healthy!! She has tasted many different types of lettuce wraps but this one is her favorite! My youngest is also very picky with her selections and doesn't normally like pad thai noodles. I was very impressed when she actually loved theirs! All my friends raved about their choices as well and all said wonderful things about them! I personally have a favorite - if you like thai curry, you MUST order their chicken curry! It was amazing! I absolutely loved it! You obviously can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

The owners/staff are very friendly, inviting, and hospitable. You feel so welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. Excellent customer service!!! Nothing like it elsewhere!!!

The place is beautiful and the cleanliness is top notch. From the dining area to the restrooms! Totally impressed!

Not only were my tastebuds satisfied, but I'm also very certain my food is clean!!!

I would like to start this review with why you should actually read it. I was the food and wine editor for Lit Monthly in Dallas for 2 years and am a hobby chef/cook. As such I have eaten in a lot of places and prepared a lot of food. Thai food is on the list of favorite food types because of its intense flavors and diversity.

When I see 5 Stars on a review, I am naturally skeptical, but I now live in this part of the Metroplex and wanted desperately to find a way to satisfy my lust for Thai cuisine. I have eaten in several Thai restaurants and while they ranged for ok to good none made me want to return.

Enter Rumdoul, an utterly un-assuming little family owned Thai restaurant tucked in a little strip mall. If you did not know it was there your chances of stumbling on it are nearly zero.

I have visited Rumdoul twice and tried no less than 8 different menu items. This is rare for me to say, but all of them were good to exceptional with the preponderance being exceptional. The green tea drink is a don't miss, the Penang Curry was the best I have had in the metroplex, the Glazed Pork amazing, and the Chicken Stir Fry with vegetables absolutely perfect. I could go on and on but I will end this review before you get bored and just say DO GO. IT IS 5 STAR WORTHY.

For those who are fans of fried rice, it is excellent. However, in Asian cuisine fried rice is not a main dish it is always a side dish, thus it does not contain as much protein or vegetables as a main dish. The reviewers citing a lack of ingredients in the fried rice do not understand Asian cuisine. Sorry for the rebuff, but I thought it necessary to clear the air on why not every review is as good as...
