Julie & her husband are the owners. Julie lies, a lot. She also allows her bar friends to run & dictate who come into the bar. It's comical. - she's been really cool & I don't want to take that away from her but it's ridiculous.
When I got there a few weekends ago, I was able to meet my girlfriend, father and brother. I didn't get a drink as I was talking to said girlfriend and I'm very regretful that I didn't because at some point shortly after the bartender was nowhere to be found. A bar patron went outside to vape in their own vaping area and came back in again, from their own vaping area. Some drunk friend of the bar was there, a tall blonde lady whose name I will not mention out of respect. She told him he couldn't come back in without being ID'd and that there was nobody to ID him so he just had to stand there and wait. Nobody could get their ID checked. I couldn't get a drink. It was a joke. We told her it was inappropriate and we argued the situation telling her he should be able to come back in and sit down. She was rude, she was drunk, it was inappropriate & it lasted for about 5 minutes.
The friend of the bar didn't like the conversation and told the bartender that she was being picked on by my friend and I. They put a note on the bartending system stating that for when I'm not allowed in but secondly that I was picking on another patron of the bar and that I was literally physically stepping on her toes, literally folks and that I was climbing on the chairs and taking things off of the walls!
I called Julie on multiple occasions per her request to call back because she was busy and each time I identified myself the only way that I could. She said that I was calling her with attitude every time that I was calling. I called her out of respect. I really used to like coming to this bar that I've been coming to since I was 21.
I've been to multiple events here, I've been on the winning end of some high-end items because I've participated in their raffles and they've made a lot of money off of me for their charities and for their own benefits. I've been a patron for years and I've spoken highly of them trying to get others to come in and support them. I've continuously heard negative things about Julie and the way that she handles things and the way that she treats people. I've now seen it for myself.
The reason it took me so long to post this reviews because I wanted to give Julie ample time to reach out to me in the event she realized she made a mistake and it didn't want to completely kick somebody out of her bar because one of her friends got into it disagreement with a bar patron. What a loss & an embarrassment to you.
The things you've said about me flat out...
Read moreMy husband and I recently moved to the area. We were looking for a place we could consider "our place" to hang, watch sports, etc. We read the reviews on Google and were excited to try the steaks that had received such great reviews at Rainbow Saloon, just down the street from our new home. I don't know if we just hit the place on a bad night or if the other people writing reviews were just too drunk to be able to tell the difference between a good steak and shoe leather. I ordered my steak "still mooing". The steak I received was about 1/3 of an inch thick, well done and basically flavorless. Even heavily salting it couldn't save it So I gave up after eating about half of it. I decided to focus on the tiny baked potato that came with my meal. When I attempted to mash it down to apply the butter and sour cream, it was as hard as a rock. At that point I pushed my plate away from me, very disappointed. The small salad was the only thing I ate all of, and that was just a bagged salad mix, nothing special. My husband's steak was thicker than mine on one side and cooked rare, but the other side was as thin as mine and well done. But as thin as my steak was all the way across, it was probably impossible to cook it rare. Initially I wasn't going to complain, I was just going to chalk it up to not taking the time to drive to Prairie Schooner, where they never disappoint. Lesson learned. The staff was attentive and when they asked how my dinner was, I told them and they did refund my dinner and even after refunding it, brought me a potato that actually was cooked. That was a nice gesture, but I won't risk having a meal ruin my evening like that again, we won't be back. And our search continues for that place to go, watch sports, hang, etc., like we had before we moved to Roy.
What the staff didn't seem to appreciate is that we CAME there because of the reviews, but they made it as if it was my fault for continuing to eat my steak instead of causing a scene while I was there. And to set the record straight, I did NOT eat all my steak, as they claim in their response. I didn't want them to cook me another steak and "baked potato". I wanted what I ordered to be cooked the way I asked for it to be cooked, the first time. I didn't want to have to wait for my meal AGAIN and then have my husband have to wait for me to eat, after he was all done. SERVICE! Do it right the first time. Is that too much to expect? No worries, we will never...
Read moreWe were told we couldn’t order steak dinner until was our turn to order. Apparently, you can't order from the bartender, you have to wait for the cocktail waitress to take your order but she will only do it when it’s your turn to order (whatever that means). So we started playing pool. 15 minutes later, some regulars come in and sit at the table next to the pool table. One of the drunk gentleman put his rear end on our pool table and refused to move it. I guess this group of people comes to the bar at the same time every night and it’s “known” that this is their pool table. There was nothing on the table that implied it was reserved.
The waitress brushed it off discounting it as “that’s just how those guys act”.
So a few hours goes by with no food. In this time, I had three shots of jagger. I ordered another from my cocktail waitress and instead of bringing my drink back, the owner came to my table and told me I had to slow it down and I wasn’t going to be allowed another drink until I had sobered up. This was crazy because despite how I was being treated, I was smiling and having a good time. I was nowhere close to intoxicated. My friends were completely baffled as they had twice as much to drink, but I was being singled out.
I believe They were holding back my drinks to punish me for asking them if they could get the drunk angry guy off the pool table so we could play. The guy tried to fight my boyfriend when he was asked very nicely to move so we could make a pool shot.
This place is run by the regulars. New customers don’t seem to be welcomed or wanted. New people are treated as potential narks while the regulars are allowed to run amuck.
The food was great. Our cocktail waitress was wonderful. They sang happy birthday to an older regular and it was a very kind gesture. This place wouldn’t be so bad if new customers didn’t feel like their business wasn’t wanted. The older lady behind the bar (I’m assuming the owner) was a jerk. Every other employee...
