I would not recommend this restaurant at all. I placed an order for carry out and set a pick up time for an hour after placing the order. When I arrived they informed me that they were sold out of two of the three entrees on my order. The manager blamed their online ordering system but offered no explanation nor apology as to why no one had called me in the almost one hour since I had placed my order. She offered me the option of ordering something else, but nothing complimentary and no discount for their absolute failure in basic customer service. If I could give them zero stars I would.

In response to the manager that replied to my review: You stated that you "most certainly (were) going to comp the entire bill if (I) ordered something else, but (I was) noticeably angry." Had you offered even a token discount I would have ordered something else. But you never once offered any discount, much less to comp my entire bill as you are now claiming. Hell, you didn’t even offer me a beverage or an appetizer while I waited for the replacement entrees I may have ordered. Yes, I was irritated because you had almost an hour to call me to tell me the items I ordered were sold out, yet you failed to do that. But to say I was angry so you didn't offer compensation for wasting my time is absolutely ridiculous. I was never rude, I never swore, nor did I even raise my voice in the least. At worst I became terse because your staff member called my phone while I was already standing there talking to you and she only called because you had just asked her if she had done so. When she then walked over to tell me what you had just explained, it was so farcical that it was like rubbing salt in the wound. Even then, though, I was never demeaning or hostile in any way to you or your staff. I never even complained, I just asked you to make sure my credit card was refunded. I am fully aware of the difficulties that restaurants have been dealing with since the pandemic and my family has continued to financially support many of our favorites as much as we can and to be understanding of delays due to staffing or stocking problems. In our experience, being sold out of items has not been uncommon for restaurants these days and I accept that. Not calling me to explain that you were sold out of items in my order was frustrating but would have been forgivable had you at least made some attempt to remedy that mistake. However, your abject failure in customer service and your response blaming me for being "noticeably angry" is indicative only of your attempt to deflect blame from the intolerably poor performance displayed by you...

I'm hoping the executive chef and owners see this.

We live near by and my husband is a chef. Brown Iron was one of the very few restaurants in the area that we visit regularly. Up until the menu chance we were very happy. We went last week for burgers (very picky, but in the past decent burgers here). They have changed. They are cheap smash burgers now. Mine was almost burnt, dry and little to no seasoning. So we said ok, I guess we don't get burgers here anymore. Was super excited to see the poutine! Came out, very disappointed. The cheese curds were still cold in the middle.

We went back last night because my husband was craving ribs and you guys had great ribs. It's the night before Thanksgiving, one of the biggest bar nights of the year and I think there were maybe 3 wait staff. The hostess was not welcoming at all, but fine, off day. Waitress came and ordered our drinks then wasn't seen again for at least 10 minutes. Poor woman looked like she was the only waitress (much later I saw another walk by the other side of the restaurant). Went last night specifically for ribs. One of our staple entrees here. No longer on the menu. Took another 10 minutes to get 2 beers then had to wait again for our order. We decided to only order for our toddler. Really guys? 4 entrees (2 fish) and your sides for everything are the same?! Btw pineapple slaw should not be your go to slaw... Nothing on the menu called to us. We talked it over when our waitress eventually made it back over, she informed us that ribs are only Thursdays now. She was also great letting us know she would share the feedback. Sounds like you are losing regulars like us due to the menu change. We ended up drinking our beers, feeding our son and getting Chicken Shack carry out.

I get trying to revamp and make profit, but the quality has gone significantly down and your prices have gone up... Not worth eating at anymore.. hopefully for the next menu chance things...

I could not have made a better decision to have Brown Iron of Royal Oak host our wedding. We had a small, intimate wedding of 20 in one of their private party rooms, which I’m pretty sure can be expanded for a larger party. The room was a perfect size for the ceremony and did not feel cramped with the huge windows looking outside. We were able to display a photo video on the big screen in the room for our guests and had a microphone for speeches. This all was done really well.

The packages the restaurant offered let us make so many choices for our food and appetizers, and even the dessert. Pretty much their entire menu is available, and they were very accommodating for extras - we die for their garlic parmesan fries. As always, the food at all Brown Iron locations is amazing and our entire family enjoyed our selections of the brisket, beer can chicken, and pretzel crusted salmon that all paired wonderfully with their potatoes - and their brussel sprouts are legendary in my family now!

The beer menu alone is entertainment, and has something for everyone. There were 64 beer selections available for my family to try that evening. The only disappointment my family expressed was they didn’t take a growler of their American Apple home with them!

The manager (Ryan) was very helpful through the entire process and the entire staff made everything flow perfectl. We did not have to worry about anything throughout the whole evening. Even down staff members for the evening, we never felt neglected. Our server (Shay, sp?) made us feel welcome at all times and even was even great with the kids at the wedding. She went above and beyond and we really appreciate having you as our server for the event.

I could not imagine a better night and we thank you and your entire staff for the night and all...

The food was good, however the whole vibe of the place was very off. Our server Erika literally had the attitude that she didn't wanna serve us. In fact, she never told us her name or properly introduced herself. We only know her name from the receipt. My friend who is pregnant asked for non-alcoholic beer. We looked and it said 0.5% so why would it be labeled non alcoholic? Most of all, why wouldn't she mention it when we told her my friend is pregnant? My friend asked for a drink with all the fixings minus the liquor and she replied, "it'll just be juice" well duh, that's all a pregnant woman can drink is juice! We both got the fish & chips with garlic parm fries. I didn't like how the garlic was on the side so I just dipped a few fries. My drink was the apple cinnamon old fashioned which was strong and good. The pretzel & cheese was so good with the side of garlic butter. The french onion soup my friend thoroughly enjoyed. Ironically, when I posted my review on social media, two of my black friends, (one guy & girl) responded because they also had the same experience here. They did not feel welcome and neither did we. Erika never came back to give us to-go boxes or our bill. We found a black lady & told her and Ironically she knew who we were talking about and she got Erika to come over to finish us out. Erika never got a tip from us, she doesn't deserve one. With so many people looking for jobs, try hiring someone with a better attitude! Or maybe this establishment doesn't like blacks because there's no way two other people had the same experience as we did.

The Brewery Discovery Tour continues. Quite possibly the last 🏍-based trip of 2024 (Halloween is this coming week. It's only 54° F today). I really enjoyed the northern location of Brown Iron so this seemed a good stop. First, and foremost, this is a restaurant. Brewery is in the name but that is secondary at this location from the instant you walk through the door. They have 86 beers available. Only 11 are theirs. And they don't offer tastings like any actual brewery does. Ok, that doesn't have to detract from the experience and most of the brews not made in-house are area local: MI, MN, IL, WI. Others range from DE & CT to CA & CO. Quebec shows up for a few, as well. The list breaks down by general styles: stouts, darks, ciders, sours, IPAs, gluten-free, non-alcoholic & easy/easier drinking. The last range from Helles to Oktoberfest to Pilsner and red ales. The food smells quite good. Notes of BBQ waft through. But I checked the menu when I was checking the hours last night. The pictures and descriptions sound great. But the prices are a bit high. Too high for a casual lunch at a brewery for this guy. I ate lunch first. It is a bit loud here though not annoyingly so. I can hear louder bits of conversations occurring 75' away. The music is a touch loud, a bit too pop & upbeat for my tastes but hard rock & metal aren't really a good choice for Yuppies for which this is a gathering place.
