Chicken Shack Woodward — Restaurant in Royal Oak

THIS CHICKEN IS THE ILLEST!

Yoooooooooo, I haven't been to a Chicken Shack location in a hot minute, but today our weekly office lunch was from this CS location, and everything was DOPE AF!

We ordered Chicken Family, which had 16 pieces of mixed dark and white chicken breasts, legs, thighs and wings. It also came with Onion Rings. The broasted chicken was unbelievably tender and juicy. And if you don't know, broasting is far more healthy than frying chicken (which tastes almost exactly the same). How much more healthy? About 40-70% less fat than traditional deep frying! And I can't tell you how dope the Onion Rings were too.

We also ordered a "Bucket of Tenders," which were (again) outstandingly moist and delicious. Again, I would say it's the broasting technique that makes it so F'ing tasty. The bucket came with CS's famous Shack Potatoes, and everyone gobbled them up.

Lastly, we ordered a pan of Green Beans (steamed) and a side of Cole Slaw. Those were simple enough, but were equally well prepared.

And the staff was amazing. Ordering online I wasn't sure what to expect, but I received text messages when my order was received and when it was ready. The food was made about 5 minutes ahead of time, which is great for those of us who hate to wait. The woman behind the counter was extremely kind and affable, and had my order together and ready for me to carry out quickly.

I can't wait to go back to this location, not just because the service was so great, but more importantly, because the food...

Let me just say I used to love this place back in the day and I recently went here. The seasoning is very good however the chicken is overdone. I had to take my breast back the first time and then the second time all of it was dry and I had purchased it for my mother or you're still being executive chef and had her own catering business and she ate the chicken. It took her to let me know what the problem was that they were overcooking the chicken. They say 7 minutes but she said they're supposed to set it for 5:00 and as it cooled down for the last two that's the seven because it continues to cook after the 7 minutes so that's the problem. Not sure if they know that or if they do it sometime or who the manager the supervisor is. But this broasted chicken is tough. Make sure you have good teeth 😁 at this point the only thing I would recommend were the potatoes. They were A1. I got a fish dinner and I just could have got better fish from Costco's or Sam's club and threw it in the fryer myself. I should have went to the boneyard and got my cod fish. That's what I get... I was in between on this review because the chicken is very flavorful and good but it's overcooked and overcooked chicken is better than undercooked chicken,🍗🐓🐔🐥 But it's still not good.. let's go back to reading the manual and give this chicken right because the flavor is good and it looks like I'm the only one That had an issue.. perhaps it was just...

On 7/14/20 I took the 25min drive to this location, as I do so often. After waiting 10min before even being acknowledged while @the counter waiting to give my order. Mind you I was clearly seen by the employee w/the very low haircut (female), when she went into the cooler next to the counter where I stood. There were about 6 employees in the cooking area and no one came to take my order, BUT one of them, (not the female that had already seen me), did announce that someone needed to help @the counter for me to give my order. Now the wait has turned into almost 20min to give my order. I had to ask a waiting customer if I was @the correct window to make an order. After getting an employee from the back to take my order which was a 4pc dark bbq w/broasted potatoes & 4pc white meat (not bbq) w/broasted potatoes extra butter on both. Well when I finally got my order and drove the 25min back home, the 4pc dark was NOT bbq but that’s what I paid for. Seeing that this is one of my most favorite frequented places to eat, needless to say I was highly disappointed. I observed several orders not accurately processed when customers received them and had to be corrected, if the customer hadn’t already left. Some of them being Door Dash orders. I suppose I will have to go elsewhere to spend my money to get quality customer service...
