I have been a loyal customer of Scrubber’s Grooming for over a decade, regularly recommending them by word-of-mouth and always speaking highly of their services. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I will never be returning.
In order to schedule my most recent appointment, I was told I needed updated vaccines for my cat. The earliest vet appointment I could get was the day before the grooming appointment. I followed through and had the updated rabies vaccine administered, with documentation emailed to me directly from the vet. Unfortunately, due to a technical issue, the file would not download. Even so, I had voicemail confirmation from the vet verifying the visit and vaccination.
On the day of grooming, I arrived at 1:08 PM for my 1 pm appointment with a 10 minute grace period. I initially went to the wrong door but immediately tried to find the right entrance once I realized. By the time I was greeted and reached the groomer, it was 1:12 PM—just two minutes past the appointment time. Despite being on-site with my vaccinated and sedated cat, the groomer refused service.
I explained and showed proof that my cat had received his rabies vaccine and offered to send the official documentation as soon as I had Wi-Fi access later that same day. The groomer still refused. To make matters worse, I had followed their prior recommendation to give my cat gabapentin to reduce anxiety, meaning he was already sedated and stressed—yet turned away over two minutes and a temporary documentation delay.
I totally get timeliness and rules but it was very obvious I had the vaccine done, with the email and the voicemail. I could get it to them that day. But also, how could my cat be medicated on gabapentin if I didn't go to the Vet?! As well as the fact my cat has never needed the full timeslot to complete his groom, so the 2 minutes past the grace period wouldn't have killed them to make way for a long-time customer.
After nearly ten years of loyalty, I was treated as though none of that mattered. The rigidness, lack of basic understanding, and complete disregard for both the myself and my cat’s wellbeing were astounding.
This experience was unacceptable, and I will not...
Read moreI have been bringing my German shepherd there for 5 years plus. On Oct 12th 2018 my dog had the usual appointment full service which I was ask to confirm twice leading up to the date. Appointment time was 4pm. There on time. 6 0'clock came begun to worry. I called only to be put on hold. I was on hold so long the phone went to a voice mail. I called back and was told they were extremely busy and my dog was almost done. Mind you every time I have taken my dog to SCRUBBERS IN ROYAL OAK grooming full service has been one hour. I live 10 min away. Upon arriving at 630pm There were no dogs waiting except mine. Yet they were extremely busy.... That was a excuse. Followed by your dog is getting older drying process takes 45 min and she needed lots breaks to get it done. That's some long breaks after 2 hours of service and no dogs left except mine. Matters worse they have caller i.d. So they were aware I was calling First time I called before I could say hello Employee said scrubbers please hold. My dog has gone there 5 years 2 times a year. I found the two gentlemen working that day to not appreciate the customer. Or even caring enough to follow with answering the phone after calling. In 10 min after calling I get there after they said they were busy one employee is sitting down No cars in parking lot. And 7 year old German shepherd they claim is getting up in age practically dragging the employee bringing me my dog. Extremely disappointed and will follow up with manager and owner on this matter After 3 excuses and over 2 hours at the groomer the employees customer service skills were non existent Had to walk out and let my wife pay before I...
Read moreWe've been coming here both for grooming appointments and self-service sessions for several years. My main reason for writing this review is the guy who I assume is the owner. He's always there (on the self-wash side) and seems to be in charge. Not a big deal, but he's been unfriendly and short with me every time I'm there, especially if I try to use a Groupon or their store coupon (if they offer it, why shouldn't I use it and save a few bucks?). I'm not sure if he realizes how big of a turnoff his bizarrely unpleasant attitude can be. All the other workers are friendly and clearly love their job. He's the only one who is consistently irritable/rude, without fail. If we end up washing our dogs at home from now on, he would be the sole reason. Again, it's not a big deal, which is why we've been repeat customers. But I'm tired of paying money only to be treated like I've done something wrong and/or am an ignorant child. (Esp if he's the owner, it sets a bad example for his employees.) I hope he reads this and considers smiling and being accommodating once in a while, even if he's tired and having a bad day. There's always the possibility that your customers are having bad days as well. We're not there to annoy you and make your life more difficult. Onto the important stuff. Aside from one anomalous incident (they cut my dog's nails too short, didn't tell me about it, and I only found out when he bled on the car), we have been satisfied with the groomers. They're really sweet and do a reasonably good job. Self-service stations are easy to use, and...
