This evening was quite disappointing. And this is the second occurrence I’m assuming with the same crew. It was 8:35 PM when I rolled through the drive through to be rudely told “we’re closed” The website states you are closed at 9 PM.
I work in customer service & speak with 150+ people a day and work 12 hour shifts. I take customers up until the VERY LAST MINUTE OF CLOSING which is 9 PM which always goes over my shift. Is it irritating, yes, very much so, but it has to be done because that part of the BUSINESS and I’m still being paid so who actually cares that I have to be there 15 extra minutes after close.
I understand when it’s late at night and people are ready to go home for the day, HOWEVER, exceptional customer service would have been to take our order until 9 PM, or hell, even 8:50 but it was literally 8:34. That gives ample amount of time to make two smoothies, like come on now.
Miss jasmine, the manager was kind of rude. She stated that “if this location is out of your way & you can’t get here earlier, than that’s on you” Excuse me? This is real life. I have a job as well and unfortunately I can only ENJOY smoothie king during later hours.
I suggest you change your hours to 8 AM to 8 PM.
She did not apologize for any inconvenience just talked about how she runs other stores like the Livonia one which didn’t really concern me.
I really enjoy coming here but that was more than likely my last attempt.
I stayed around the parking lot looking for another smoothie place (found one in hamtramck & it ended up being extremely delicious!!) but I watched 8 cars go through the drive through & drove off because they simply would not take peoples’ order. That was potentially $100 that was not made in a matter of 10 minutes. If I ran a business, I’m not turning down ANYONE. Especially regulars. But I guess how are you to know whose a regular and whose not.
It’s summer, people enjoy a cold HEALTHY treat … but I suppose you won’t receive that at Smoothie King in royal oak.

I placed a mobile order that was said to be ready at 9:06pm and arrived at 9:05 to find the door was locked but the drive thru was open(I know some places do this but they usually have that posted somewhere). There was 1 cat in front of me in line and I could tell they had a big order, so when I told them I was here for a mobile order I asked if I could just come inside and grab it but they told me to stay in line. So I ended up having to wait an extra 10 minutes to get my order and when I pulled to the window the order wasn't even made. This was made worse because the smoothie I got (Passion Passport) just tasted like a banana smoothie. The people were nice but maybe just were having a bad day. But that was a pretty below average experience and product I received.
After discussion with management and giving them another try, I decided to change my stars, it seems more like I came on an off night and that's not the norm. Also after discussions with the management there, I was very impressed. I have never spoken with management that seemed as sincere and customer focused as this. I was looking through the app and asked for a little time before I ordered. Once I was ready, I wanted the free Friday upsize. When I told the girl on the intercom she responded “you have to have the app for that”, which I responded “I have the app”. When I was trying to order, she continued to be rude and tell me she that what I was ordering wasn’t a drink but a category (she was correct) but also didn’t try to help me. I decided to order my normal since I felt rushed at that point. When I got to the window and the guy repeated my order to me, I let him know that wasn’t what I ordered.
