Prior to moving to the area, my family and I would visit the Rockwall location. We were familiar with the owner from that location from before Luigi’s. I am always hesitant to try new (to us ) Italian restaurants. Being of Italian (Sicilian actually) heritage, I am very judgmental when it comes to Italian food. But we decided to give it a go. We have only actually dined in one time. Which is the only time we ever will again. If that tells you anything. But we have ordered to go a handful of times. Every single time we have had some sort of problem. But since actual semi decent Italian restaurants are no where near here, you take what you can get. This time my wife and I wanted to try something new from the restaurant. We got two different dishes to share. The first was the chicken damabianka. It said it was made with fresh mushrooms. I don’t believe that. Tasted very much of cannned. And they dumped an entire large can of them. With as many mushrooms they put in it, the taste made it seem like a mushroom dish, not a chicken dish. And they served it with spaghetti instead of fettuccine. Which was weird to me. And they broke the spaghetti into small pieces with is just blasphemy. We also tried the chicken arrabiatta. It was made with “fresh” mushrooms (see above ) and cherry peppers. Which also seemed to have jalapeños as well. But it made the entire dish so spicy that it just killed the taste of everything else. Our seven year old had a couple slices. Hard to mess that up. He liked so that’s what matters. And don’t get me started on the owner. Will have to think very hard of...
Read moreROYSE CITY LOCATION No one inside at 8:00pm on a Friday is the first red flag: To tired to send it back, just eat what ya can and don’t make waves is what we endured at this dinner $70 later… Local here so it pains me to have had this review turn so bad after all these years but recently this food has gotten blah, salty- the bread was like oiled down leather, she even brought some without the oil and it was like what happens when you take it home and the next day it is almost a rock on the outside. So then the Calzone had added pepperoni inside and it was cold and again the crust/bread was old tasting. The lasagna was watered down and hardly any meat was a soupy messy so much so the kids didn’t eat much-kids mind you who eat ramen and think it’s great. Then came the Philly cheesesteak-burnt with very little onions and mostly a very long open bun which then the burnt bread kind of hindered the flavor but it was also very bland. Specialty dish was the best of the 4 but even with the tortellini it was way over salted and pasta overcooked to mushy more like a mush… I do not know WHAT has happened but the place is not a good dive Italian joint anymore. Waitress could barely speak English and nice but it took a while to actually communicate and so when you add in just absolutely sub par food- We will not go back unless we see it has new management or owners. ROYSE CITY Location...
Read moreUpon first glance this looks like a nice little place small town to go to but look closer and pay attention and you see a place that code enforcement should be walking into and probably shutting them down for a while while they make necessary repairs for the sake of food safety and the patrons health. This could be a nice little place but it would take an overhaul of the staff and careful attention to food prep and the area surrounding food prep before I will ever go back in there. I ate in there with my wife twice over three months both times we went away with a little extra within 12 hours of eating there. I understand they own three other locations in surrounding towns. Their attention to detail has gotten pretty thin with profits apparently driving their decisions, but hey it's my personal opinion an observation over many years. The list is too great to go down and as I was reminded recently if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all I am making an exception here because it needs to be brought up and to the...
