The staff was rude we rode 2 hrs to go there Food orders in our group were messed up, although we did have a large group of us. So I can understand a little mess up. I noticed others didn't finish their food. We ordered a side of waffle fries the waitress was told we wanted fries, so if we could just get a side of fries it would be great, when she brought it to our table she literally threw them on the table. Ours in our group was not impressed with service either. I need to use the restroom and the outside restroom didn't have lights on, so I went inside because as where the restroom was because someone told me there was one inside the lady rudely told me there is one outside I said the lights were not working, she yelled out to someone to turn breaker on for outside bathroom and then told me ok now you can use the one outside. Some weren't impressed with their food including my husband. I personally liked my food. Even though they were very rude I still left a tip hoping that they were just...

Edit 3/08/2025: We hit 104 decibels at 5:58 PM. Nobody has ever asked for 104 decibels before 6 pm.

Sundown tavern is the glue that holds downtown Ruston together. The turkey melt is a classic, the beers are cold, and the atmosphere outside is unbeatable. The biggest weakness has always been the service and today was especially horrible. We were served by an older woman who was more than confused. She took ages to take our oder because of her terrible menu knowledge, she blatantly blamed her issues on the kitchen staff, and she ran our checks one at a time to, “make sure she doesn’t get them wrong”. She did. She missed 2 out of 4. I love a 45 minute Sunday lunch, but I absolutely despise an hour and a half ordeal being run by a 50 year old with the mental capacity...

Great food and great people. Everything is on the menu and all of it is delicious. You won't regret going. Also some days they have live music.

So today is 02/25/2022 I'm updating my review. I will not be coming back here ever again. I was told I had to pay $5 just to order my food. I was told to order at the bar. But didn't know if I need to go sit back down at my table or wait at the bar. I was yelled at by a man that worked here that I needed to move. The bartenders had an attitude and were rude to me. It was embarrassing, because I had family in town just wanting to order some food. And when are food came out it was the wrong food. I really love this place. But I'm so sad now. I will not be treated like...

As a Ruston local, I am so happy with how amazing Sundown Tavern is after reopening with NEW owners! While now boasting spotless floors and grime-free walls, Sundown has not lost any of its classic atmosphere we all love. The food was so delicious and served by the friendliness and most attentive staff. The turkey melt was absolutely AMAZING, and the fried green beans were as delicious as I remember. If you are looking for a cool spot in Ruston to hang out and catch up with friends at the bar, or even just a place to unwind after work with the family out on the patio, this is the place to go. Beyond happy to have a classic Ruston spot back and better than it ever has been before!

I just want to preface this by mentioning that Heather is an amazing server, and makes the best tartar sauce I've had in my life. Kudos, and props. Sundown is, I suspect, the tavernest place in Ruston. It lends itself to good music and entertainment, local and national brews on tap, and some really good catfish. It's divided between an inside area (with a bar, pool, and indoor seating) and an outdoors patio that's super chill to hang around in cool autumn days. I got two of the local IPAs on tap: Ghost in the Machine and Dr. Juice. With names like those, how could I say no? Coupled with the catfish and fries, and amazing service, it was an amazing dinner.
