Uptown Downtown — Restaurant in Ruston

Probably the best cup cakes I’ve ever had. We moved to the area approximately 8 months ago. We’ve been customers to this place on average at least once a month. We even brought out of town guests here. However after numerous times of really sub par service almost blantly rude service , we probably won’t be back. Today there were 3 young women working we walked in - no one greeted us. No one said a word to us only each other. After we looked around , which doesn’t take real long we stood at the cup cake counter waiting for anyone to a knowledge us. These women kept talking to each other but not us. Finally the girl sweeping the floor (not the other 2) asked if she could help us. We said yes we’d like some cupcakes- her reply how many , we said we think 4 to 6 . Nothing professional nothing friendly just which ones. Guess we didn’t pick them out fast enough as she kept saying what else. It was obvious we were an inconvenience to them. I realize this “younger generation”doesn’t have the work ethics and social skills “ of the past . However rude is rude. We won’t be back and what a shame the products are excellent. The staff needs alot of re-training. Sadly this is the third time we’ve had this rude type of service. Maybe the owners...

I am disappointed and frustrated we had an appointment to go cake tasting for our wedding cake she called the day of cancel said she had an emergency ok cool she rescheduled us for Wednesday of the next week we went she wasn't there I was told someone order a cake in Monroe and could not come get it so she went deliver it but she never made our samples so I asked the young lady to ask her to call me when she return I never received a call 😡 2 days pass I went back to she's not there again!! I wanted to give a 4-star, but Uptown Downtown missed the mark on too many things. To-go lunch bags come with cutlery but not napkins. The main menu above the counter doesn't include their lunch menu which is a not-so-easily noticed paper menu near the register and the staff bickered with each other while taking orders. The brisket sandwich is sliced, not chopped, so eating it out of a sandwich likely results in it all falling out on your first bite. Overall the experience was disappointing and in need of finishing touches. The location and presentation of the shop is very good, a shaded outdoor seating area being a welcome feature.
