I've been here several times with family. It's their go to place after special events, so we decided to eat here again after one of our family member's graduation. I've never experienced issues before, but it seems that some new people have been hired. The very least I can say is that the management has made some poor decisions regarding who he hires and what type of manager he chooses to be. Hostess was less than agreeable and very obviously unhappy to be dealing with any problem as small as seating a larger group. Then when asked to speak with a manager, the hostess just said he was unavailable. We asked the other hostess to please get a manager and like the other employee, instead of going to the back and checking, she said the manager could not come out and speak with us.
It took two more times of us (now firmly) asking to speak with the manager, for one of the hostesses to go get him and for the manager to come out.
As a young adult myself, I'm greatly disappointed in the demeanor and actions of the two hostesses. I may look young but I do not act as such -- sarcastic, immature, nor naive. The one hostess was very abrupt with us and disrespectful to the adults in my family. Two things are obvious. One, the manager didn't want to be bothered so he left the reputation and first impression of the restaurant in the hands of people who haven't even take 2 semesters of college. And two, the (newer) staff have some attitude problems.
For a restaurant that we have always really enjoyed, it's very disappointing to have such an experience within the first 5 minutes of walking inside. Some changes definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally mad at this place because it ruined Olive Garden for me. If you want a nice, indulgent dinner, put on your loose pants and go here. They have drink specials every night (from what I can tell) and their breadsticks are wonderfully fluffy, just garlicky enough, and not greasy. Bell pepper doesn't agree with my stomach, so I usually order the chicken McIntyre (a house special, well-seasoned chicken with loads of sauteed vegetables in a pink sauce... where nutrients and full-fat indulgence live in harmony) without the peppers and they accommodate with no problems. My husband likes the crawfish ravioli. The chicken salad is also very good, it's good crisp green lettuce and greens (not 90% iceberg) with a generous amount of chicken (two tenderized, flat-pounded chicken breasts with loads of seasoning); I recommend the oil and vinegar on top, used sparingly, to let the flavors shine through. I think the prices are reasonable, and I can always make a couple meals from the leftovers (and of course a spare breadstick stuffed into my to-go tin).
This is also a good spot to go just for drinks, they have a nice bar area with high tops nearby. My wine-drinking friends enjoy it, and they have my favorite beers on tap. Cocktail prices are also standard/reasonable.
Side note, this building has housed a few restaurants (RIP Tia Maria's), and there was always a sulfurous stank in the women's room up until this place became Roma. They worked some kind of Italian magic and got rid of the smell. That's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRoma's has amazing food, but not the best staff. If Roma's is business just walk right back out the door. I know sadly to say. I've been a couple of times to Roma's it's one of my favorites. But only for the food. The other day we walked in and were told it was going to be a 20-minute wait at the max. So we waited and sat there for 30 minutes. A couple walked in and were seated immediately. There were three tables with four seats open. We had five in our group. They sat the couple. I walked up, and I asked why they got seated before us. The waitress said we just sat the couple at the bar. I said no ma'am y'all just sat them a table. And we've waited for 30 minutes when there are three tables, open that could be pushed together. Let me say the waitress had a really bad attitude towards me. They finally set us. We got there at 7 pm got seated at 7:32 pm. No one took our drinks or brought bread for 15 minutes. Once they did, we ordered at 7:42 pm. We didn't get our food until 8:30 pm. People and groups that came after we were seated, given their food and left, before we even got our food. Like I said if Roma's didn't have the good food I would definitely...
