UPDATE: Do NOT go if you're not a local, as in not born and raised in Rutland. You are NOT WELCOME HERE. I posted my first review after being greeted by a very nice server my first visit, but it turns out she's an anomaly. She works one day a week or so. The rest of the staff, including the owner, will treat you like trash if you're not a true local. I moved to Rutland a year ago after growing up in the mountains of NY. Still, they called me a "flatlander" and made clear I'm not welcome there. This was after spending $2400 there.
In short, this is not a tourist friendly place, or friendly for anyone who didn't grow up in Rutland. There are a lot better places in town that will treat you like a human and offer a better choice of drinks and way better atmosphere.
This review is not an attempt to take business from Two Sheas. It has a solid (true) local following. They won't be damaged by your going to another place. Trust me.
My old review is below from my first visit:
4 TVs to watch the games. Full bar with decent craft brews on tap, plus the usual domestic beers. Parking is not bad, with lots of spaces on the street or the small parking lot beside it. The city doesn't enforce meters after dark, it seems. One star for food because they don't serve any! But you can bring in food. Lots of good restaurants within a minute walk, and you can bring it in with you. Good pool table, just one, but it's enough. A few booths for more intimate gatherings. Definitely a "locals" place that openly welcomes outsiders (see above). Has a nice outdoor patio area. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that it isn't bigger, and I'd wish for more craft brews on tap (only 4, though they have cans of others). It can get warm inside in winter, so dress accordingly. Good for conversation since the music is low and the noise is less than what you'd find in an...
Read moreSo, I'm a regular customer at Two Sheas along with my boyfriend. 4/5 bartenders I have had encounters with are amazing. And funny enough, the bartender that is the most disrespectful to customers (including myself) is one I've worked with in the past, Joya. We payed cash for our first round, unsure of how long we were staying, and closed, with a GENEROUS tip might I add. My boyfriend went and got another round of shots and closed, we both assumed this was our last drink. We played some pool, hung out at a booth and eh screw it, decided to get one more shot. My boyfriend was teased and berated by Joya for buying another round on an un-open tab. She was more concerned about playing a dice game at the bar with other customers than selling more drinks for the bar. Not to mention, AGAIN, being rude to regulars one of which she worked with in the past. Again, the other bartenders and atmosphere are welcoming and fun, but one vindictive bartender can tank a business if they disrespect...
Read moreI hadn't been out to have a casual drink in many years but with my 40th class reunion up, and this being my first year going to a class reunion, everyone from our class decided to meet there on Friday night and then doing the reunion at the country club the next night. I was SUPER EXCITED about both evenings as a member of my gang back in high school was meeting us there and had done the reunion to a tee! When I got to Two Shea's on Friday evening I suddenly felt like all eyes were on me in the bar....no one else attempted to speak to me amd I felt very much like an outcast or that something else was going on behind me....i feel HORRIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE for a tiny bit. Then I just told myself it had to be me as everyone else seemed to be happy and having great fun. _ so to end...i feel it was no doubt just me being silly. I've ways felt this bar had excellent service, and had always enjoyed the company...
