This a rating based on service as I never got my food. Went with my sister to get breakfast. We ordered separately but at the same time. My sister received her food and started to eat thinking mine was coming shortly after. I waited. Customers that ordered after me got their food. I waited. My sister neared finishing her breakfast that she purposely ate really slow. I was done waiting and was upset. I didn't go to breakfast with my sister to watch her eat and then for her to watch me eat. So I went to the lady who took my order and told her I wanted my money back that my food never came, my sister was done eating and we were ready to go. Her, another staff person and the cook said some stuff in Spanish and then the cook dumped some egg mixture in a pan and the lady tells me "he's making it right now." I told her he can make it but I don't want it, I want my money back. The cook asked her whether or not to make it and she tells him no. She then goes to the cash register to look for my ticket. She pulled it and looked at the clock and tells me "its only been 20 minutes." To which I said I understand, then pointed to my sister and said we ordered at the SAME time and she us done. I pointed to other guests who ordered after me that were done. She tells me again it was 20 minutes and that it could take 30 minutes when its busy. She argued with me over and over! I asked her for her name she wouldnt give it to me. I asked for a manager and she said she was a manager! She gave me a refund for the food I never got but not for my regular cup of coffee. Smh!! Terrible terrible terrible! I have made sure to tell plenty of...
Read moreI had a decaf latte in the evening and the foam was perfect. It was thick and deep-layered, very pleasant. The barista was kind & friendly as well. The ambiance was soothing with off-white lights outside and lots of plants; soft lighting inside and attractive wood beams. The food was pretty good. I ordered a mushroom goat cheese crepe. I thought the mushroom had a bit too much sweetness though, but it was still good. The country potatoes that came with it were a bit rubbery and the oil had a hint of rancidness, so that was disappointing. I tried the almond cake and it was just okay. The custard layer in the cake was more like a dry pudding with a bit too much cornstarch or gelatin (whichever ingredient was used for thickening). It had a slightly sticky, gelatinous texture that was dry enough to pull away from the cake layer (I posted a pic of this). I know a good baker and have had some really great cakes with smooth, rich, not-too-sugary custard layers & frostings, so the almond cake here isn't a cake I would bother ordering again, personally. I thought the almond flavor could be bolder also. Oh, and I tried the tortilla soup but did not enjoy the flavor. It tasted like bean+corn+broth and was not very cohesive or interesting. I would have liked it better with cheese, sour cream, and cilantro (which is kind of cheating since a good cheese makes lots of bland things taste good ;+). I would not order it again. Overall, I enjoyed the experience here just enough to try it agin and order different things. Hopefully other items will be as good as the quality...
Read moreYesterday's visit to Café Dantorels was a heartwarming experience, something I shared with my local friends. It was my first time there, and I was immediately taken by their unique system: you order first and then pick a table. I found this really efficient – it meant our orders were in the kitchen before we even sat down. The highlight for me was the tomato basil soup. It was the kind of soup that warms you up from the inside, perfect for the day. My wife, meanwhile, couldn't stop raving about the Mexican hot chocolate she had, topped generously with whipped cream. It was the kind of rich and comforting drink that you crave on a cold day.
But it wasn’t just the food that left an impression. The ambiance of Café Dantorels added so much to our visit. We sat in the patio area, which had this cozy fire pit table. It was just the right spot for a chilly day, keeping us toasty as we enjoyed our meal. We all shared the spicy avocado toast, and let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion! My friends also had chai tea lattes, and they kept mentioning how authentic they tasted. I ended my meal with some French toast, which was as fluffy and sweet as you'd hope. The best part? The café's atmosphere was so welcoming and relaxed that we ended up just sitting there, chatting and hanging out for a couple of hours. It's rare to find a place that makes you feel so at ease. Café Dantorels isn't just about great food; it's about creating those perfect moments where time just seems to stand still. I’m already looking forward to...
