Really wanted this to be good all around, but we likely won’t be back.

Pros: the tortillas are superb, I believe they make them on site. The tacos were large and ingredients fresh. Ceviche was solid. Seemed kid and dog friendly. Impressive salsa station.

Cons: Cost and the mixed drinks. Get beer instead.

My wife and I stopped in recently for our first visit since the Shack was in business. We each got the 2-taco combo (plus rice and beans), split the $18 ceviche and got two maragritas. With a 15% tip came out to $100.

The tacos and portions were very satisfying. Quesabirria, Al pastor, fish and diablo shrimp. All bomb. Fresh ingredients, very tasty, came out quickly (under 10 mins on a busy day). The downside where the margaritas. I got the Mezcal margarita, which taste, like medicine, and my wife, got the Paloma, which taste like well tequila. Watered down and gross, pretty disappointed with those. I don’t think I will take another chance on a $12 margarita that tastes that bad, just get beer instead. Or go to Mezcal on Broadway for solid margaritas for half the price.

I think the trick to this place is get one or two tacos à la cart, maybe one beer. Should keep the tab from being shocking.

All in all, worth trying, but would not recommend a repeat visit. We'll...

Wow. So happy this group took over The Shack! Incredible burger, even better than the original Shack's. Tacos were great. Margaritas were refreshing and clearly made with fresh lime and good ingredients - not too sweet or too strong. Food came out quick. Salsa bar was very good, they had like 10 salsas or something, which was a bit much. 2 or 3 is probably enough, but the ones we tried were good.

You can scan a barcode on the tables to order and pay, which is cool, but I was a little confused when we came in on how things worked with the seating. As far as I could tell, you seat yourself. Still dog friendly!

Everything seemed clean. Ambiance was nice. They installed some nice overhead heaters that my wife appreciated.

Seriously though, try the...

This place used to be good but our experience last night was disappointing.

Lipstick on the water glasses The tacos were cold We sat on the patio near the front corner, there was trash everywhere on the ground. $14 for a drink - to pricey for what you get A dinner for two and 1 drink each came out to 80 bucks, plus 20 percent tip your looking $100. For that price I expected better. They had a stationary bike in the middle of the patio for some reason, tons of kids were playing on it, loud, made it distracting. If the bike wasn’t there the kids wouldn’t be playing on it right in front of everyone…(kids aren’t the problem)

Maybe it was just a bad day, dunno but I...

Food was just okay. Not very authentic. Meat was kinda salty. The pastor lacked flavor. We had carne asada loaded fries, birria tacos, and street tacos. We came around 2 on a Tuesday which was also happy hour. Service was good, counter order with a number, seat yourself. Friendly staff and quick service. Vibe was cute, full bar, and they had a good happy hour. The taste of the food was just a let down. Not horrible, very edible just not as authentic as I was expecting…it’s more similar to mas taco bar which is not bad but if you’re Mexican (like me) probably not on your lists of places to eat
