I try to be forgiving and understanding with my reviews on hospitality businesses because running a business like this isn't easy, and serving customers isn't easy, but I also need to be honest and my experience here was not good. I wish I hadn't come. The drinks we ordered weren't great. The food was awful. It tasted like it was frozen and quickly heated before being served. Also, the menu was pretty misleading. It made the dishes we ordered sound fresh and sophisticated, but what showed up seemed more like Cafeteria food. For example, the "spring rolls" are actually fried egg rolls that may or may not have been purchased from the frozen section of a grocery store. I wish I could say the service was at least good because all the employees WERE friendly, but two groups who came in after us were served before us. And there were a lot of staff seemed to be rushing around, but there were only like 20 people there (many of whom were already served) in a bar that seemed big enough to accommodate at least 100. And lastly, the atmosphere was pretty lackluster and barebones. The bones read dive-bar, but the marketing (and written menu, not the actual food or cocktails) reads hipster. I'm fine with a dive bar if I know that's what I'm getting, and I'll order accordingly. But I fell for the marketing and ordered what would be good at an actually hipster place, but it all fell short. I won't be coming back here or recommending it to...
Read moreThe bartender was a nice guy. He did a good job quickly preparing our drinks, even though my sister ordered a more complicated drink. I ordered a rum and coke. He was generous with the rum. My sister also enjoyed her drink.
The food was average. I enjoyed my hot chicken sandwich except that it was 2 chicken strips instead of one patty. It was falling apart as a result. Otherwise, the chicken strips were well cooked, not dry at all. The sandwich was very yummy. However, good chicken strips in a bar seems average to me.
I liked the decor theme, it matches the rest of Old Sac. The room itself just felt like a basement, which it is, but it didn't feel like a bar. The biggest factor was the cold white lighting. I think warmer lighting would make the room more welcoming. Additionally, it would be nice if some of the booths had seating on the other side of the table. Between the music and my sisters seated in a line next to me, it was harder to talk to each other. It was midnight on a Saturday but the place felt very empty.
Overall, this place wasn't very welcoming and we left after we finished eating and one drink. The employees we interacted with were only factor that really redeemed this...
Read moreMy wife and I were in town for training for the week. We went in twice. The first night for drinks. We sat at the bar. The bartender, Michael was awesome. He made very good drinks, talked to us the entire time we were there and made sure we were taken care of. The place is big and very clean. The place is very cool and has an awesome vibe. We enjoyed the first night so we decided to go back again. Josh, was our bartender. He was awesome. It was a bit busy but he was able to take care of things and kept people happy. We decided to eat and ordered the spicy guacamole burger….. OMG it was delicious. Both my wife and I commented that it was one of, if not the best burgers we’ve ever had. The place is not a fine dining and bright lights, big city experience. It’s a cool vibe, great drinks, hometown bar experience. If you don’t mind that, you’ll love the place. If that’s not for you move on. Also, if you plan to have drinks and food. Remember good food and drinks take time to make. Be patient….. It’s worth the wait. Thanks for a great experience....
