Check In Process: I digitally checked in about 20 hours before our stay. I was able to select a room. Check in time is 4PM.... as of 430PM no digital key yet. My room was not ready. The main reason why I do digital check in and room selection is to avoid the crowds at Reception. This did not happen. I am not pleased with this. How can housekeeping not get the room I selected ready by 4 PM, but able to get another room on the same floor that was not available yesterday when I was selecting rooms.
Lobby/Common Area - well kept and clean. Plenty of seating. Lobby men's room has 2 +1 handicap stalls. 3 urinals. 3 sinks. Really large and clean. Well stocked. The first stall (closest to urinals) has a misaligned lock... the door needed to be lifted up in order to engage the lock. Restrooms are located behind and to the left of the interior stair case.
Outside perimeter - busy downtown hotel. A bit messy.
Staff Front Desk Staff - 4PM is Check in, there was only 1 FDA on duty and a line that almost reached the front doors. The check in in process once I got to the front was quick....thank goodness a second FDA showed up after 430.
I requested late check out and was told I can check out at 12 instead of 11AM.
Housekeeping Staff - sofa bed and extra blanket was dirty. The floor under the dresser needed to be swept (see photo).
Food Staff - Javier at the omelet station is amazing...friendly and really quick. He really made the morning better. Actually the entire breakfast staff were friendly and greeted everyone. Tables were cleared and cleaned quickly allowing quick turnover.
Valet Parking- I was suppose to get a permit from the valet so I can get valet parking later.... after 15 minutes of waiting... I gave up... hope there is space available tonight... otherwise I will find a nearby lot. I ended up parking less than a block away. Security makes regular patrols of the hallways. Really nice guy...very attentive.
Room 219 selected, but given 212 since 219 was not read at 4PM. Sofa bed had a hair and crumbs on the mattress cover (see photos). The extra blanket was not clean and also contained a hair (see photo). There is a light switch my the door in the bedroom that is used to turn on the power outlets under the vanity mirror.
The 2 USB ports in the nightstand closest to the windows are out... not charging.
What I liked about getting a room on the 2nd floor is that outside of your room there are comfy chairs and couches to sit on. There is also a set of lobby stairs that goes up so you can avoid the elevators.
Food - really enjoyed the omelet bar. Nothing like have a fresh made to order omelet without me breaking eggs. Note you can get a biscuit and gravy at the omelet station... the gravy is not country style so no sausage, but very creamy.... just lacking seasoning
The complimentary breakfast hot bar includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, French toast and waffles. There is coffee counter that sells Starbucks
Gym/Pool- the pool was closed when I checked, but the hot tub was functional. You need to enter the pool area in order to get into the fitness center. Both required a key enter.
The small and narrow fitness center included 2 treadmills, 2 elliptical, 1 recumbent bike and stationary bike. There is a bench with a full set of hand weights. There is a water dispenser in there too.
Guest Laundry - did not look for one
Ice makers/vending- You can pay using NFC from your phone or any credit card that is chipped. Sodas are $3.00... Coke Brands.
Guest Elevators - took stairs, but the 3 elevators had windows that looked into center...
Read moreI am a loyal Hilton Honors member and recently held our 10 year vow renewal in at Embassy Suites. On 1/1/2022 we stayed at Embassy Suites in downtown Sacramento. That location was in the middle of their renovation and we could not be more excited to see the final results. We had just returned from another stay at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas, California and had seen the transformation that had occurred there. We were confident that the hotel was going to look amazing that we reached out to the Sales Department to speak to someone regarding our desire to have our wedding renewal there and to discuss all accommodations. I was connected to the Sales Manager. We exchanged emails and scheduled a time to meet. Our first meeting occurred in January. We walked the venue, discussed our wants and needs, we looked at rooms and were ultimately happy with the accommodations and were in contract by the end of January 2022. Between January and September we had spoken to and met with four different individuals. Clearly that was not productive. Our discussions were either lost in translation between the change of staff or the process had a major breakdown. Our meetings we had discussed reserving a corner room (larger suite) for me and my husband. We had discussed the possibility of reserving the rooms on the terrace (2nd floor) because we had our ceremony on the terrace. This did not happen. The block of rooms, as discussed, were to be on the same floor so that our party would be together. Instead, only a few were on the same floor, my elderly parents were sent 5 floors above me and my wedding party was also not near me. Another issue I had with the rooming is that I had received an email in early August with the directive that my room rate for my guest was to expire mid August. I was never told this. Had I been told this, I would have urged our guest to make their reservations prior to that date. Instead, I had to frantically call our guests to make sure that they make their reservations by the hotels timeline. Guests that did not make the cut off, were calling us daily. People were calling Embassy Suites and were told (1) there are no rooms available, or (2) they are no longer able to receive the rate set up for our guests. Can you imagine the embarrassment we experienced? I had to call Embassy Suites to clarify there were still rooms available, I had to email our " team" to ask why this was happening. No one knew what the other person was talking about and made for more of a hassle. we arrived the evening before and MY traumatizing experience started from there. We checked into our rooms (the two with the boardrooms connected for our wedding) and upon entry to the first one, we were met with a confrontational guest asking if we needed something because we were entering into his room. My husband became extremely protective at the approach of this guest because we had our 8 year old son with us and it presented a hostile situation. The guest asked us to leave the room, which we did, and stormed off to talk to hotel management. I followed that guest and we both arrived at the lobby desk at the same time. The guest was clearly upset and irate and showed no remorse. Long story… I emailed corporate, no response. I would absolutely discourage anyone from having a large event here until they are...
Read moreI chose this place to ring in my 55th. bday. We brought our boat and were excited about being on the water and celebrating my milestone bday. We thought since this hotel was so close to the water that they would be accommodating to our boat and trailer. That being said, David in Valet gave us a great spot in the hotel to park. Breathing a sigh of relief, we went about our day and night celebrating.
Woke up on Friday 8/15, my birthday, and had the best day on the water and was looking forward to a great birthday night. Upon returning back to the hotel after being on the water for hours we were greeted with hostility and a blatant disregard of any kindness by the MOD Neville?? He immediately said "oh we don't have parking for you here, if you don't want to stay than you can get your bags and leave (we will not charge you for tonight's stay)." Well this was my birthday, we had all our belongings in our room and were excited to enjoy my birthday night. He made us feel like we did not matter, but we were not going to let him burst my birthday bubble. We ended up having to park in the Overflow parking next door (as told by the MOD) so we did per his instruction.
We woke up the next morning to finish our weekend only to find a $280 parking ticket, after we paid for parking per the lot instructions. Furious to say the least, we asked to speak to the manager. Now I am not sure if I spoke to Melissa or Jennifer, but whoever I spoke to was a breath of fresh air. She was so understanding, kind, patient and better yet wore a smile. She said if we were accommodated the first night for parking then we should have been accommodated the second night. Needless to say it was refreshing to speak to someone that we knew heard our dilemma.
Now onto the rest of the review. Our room was great, with a view of the water and bridge. Roomy and nice. The complimentary breakfast both mornings were amazing. Breakfast was superb! From the omelette station, the fresh fruit, to the waffles, French toast and other tantalizing treats, it was over the top!
We were the only ones sitting outside and loving the cool crisp morning breeze. Now one Employee stands out from everyone we encountered and that was ANTONIO!!!! Who ever hired him hands down gets applause. Not only did Antonio wear a smile he was friendly, accommodating, warm and genuine. Always checking on us to make sure we had what we needed (he was over the top amazing). Our second morning he lit the firepit for us and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make us feel welcome, warm and fuzzy. This guy needs a raise or promotion!!!!! Definitely coming back due to his enthusiasm and kindness.
So to end this LONG review, due to a few people we will give this hotel another chance. Calling ahead of time to make sure we have a place for our boat and trailer, and of course to say hi and hug Antonio again...
Thanks for a...
