Overall: would stay again! Nice hotel, room, bar, food, very convenient location.LOCATION: Convenient! Right next to DOCO and the Golden 1 Center. Old Sac is a few minutes walk away. Public transport nearby.HOTEL: The decor was a lovely, sophisticated, modern take on various historical periods. Music is a theme, nodding to the historic past of the building.Balcony bar - Art Deco. Clean, eye-catching, charming. Emerald velvet chairs and gold-toned metal accents, whimsical 1920’s & ‘30’s music playing overhead, and servers dressed in simple roaring ‘20’s attire. Menu: Small bites. Phyllo baked brie, oysters, ahi poke, short ribs, Asian lettuce wraps, and more.1st floor restaurant - “7th Street Standard”, is the name. Bright & elegant with simplicity. This restaurant can be a standalone; it’s better than a “hotel restaurant” in food quality, artistry, and presentation. Didn’t eat here this time, but have before. I recall everything being good! Great drinks last time!! Had happy hour drinks this time ($10), still great! Handcrafted, fresh, subtle sweetness for balance, nothing syrupy or fake-colored (reg price $15). Happy hour food and drinks available 3-6pm. Full menu includes trout, salmon, pork belly, and other goodies. ROOM: I like the decor. The lamps were cool: gold dipped bulbs, bronze-colored cones, retro meets are deco feel. There’s a handy motion-censored light under the bathroom vanity when you don’t want to turn on a bright light at night, light-framed mirror for easy getting ready, spacious bathroom. Views from my particular room were not worth seeing. Good blackout curtains in-room, lots of natural light when open. Bathroom basics included: shampoo, conditioner, lotion soap. Not included: q-tips, cotton balls, etc. The mini fridge could fit some small leftover food boxes. Plenty of outlets near the bed. I don’t recall any food snacks offered for sale. $5 Fiji. Open rack closet, and drawers available. I believe my room was 320 sqft, with enough space to roll out a mat and do a room workout, if that’s your thing (or gym on 4th floor). AREA OFFERINGS: There’s a Starbucks Reserve steps from the hotel and many places to eat, drink & entertain within easy walking distance (steakhouse, bowling alley, movies, rooftop pool bar, beer vault, and SO much more!). While it’s a nice area (million-dollar condos and attractions next door), another block over in one direction becomes a not-so-nice area (homelessness and refuse), so just be mindful of what direction you’re heading, if that bothers you. PARKING: There are unattended daily parking lots right next to the hotel ($13-$16ish/10hrs), hourly metered parking, attended hourly/daily lots, valet ($40 seems to get you 2-day parking with in & out privileges; I valeted early evening, pickup needed before 2:45-ish a.m. on the third day). Valet had a very easy texting system. They texted me my valet ticket with a clickable link to call my car when desired. The link let me know the progress of my incoming car (“requested”, “on the way”, “ready”), so I knew exactly when I needed to head out and could enjoy my time until then. You can tip through...

Probably tops our list of the worst stays. We checked into a room with two queen beds with no wash cloths. Called down to the front desk to request some since there were 5 of us and were brought 2. Called down to the desk to inform them that at minimum we needed one for each person. We were told the person that brought us the 2 initially was from housekeeping and knew best what linen they had available. She recommended using the bath towels to wash with. I explained to her that it really wasn’t an option and that I needed for her to find 3 more wash cloths. Using towels to wash with wasn’t conducive. Moments later she appeared with the wash cloths…why was this even a debate? I thought linen came with the stay! When calls were made to the front desk they were NEVER fulfilled the first time around. It took multiple calls and sometimes hours later to get a response and sometimes the request was never fulfilled. We went 2 nights with no HVAC. Upon the 2nd night calling down, we were told there wasn’t anyone to assist and nothing he could do until the manager came in around 11:00am the next day. I had to prompt him to at minimum leave a note for the next shift and for the maintenance person. He also noted that we weren’t the only ones experiencing issues with the HVAC…there seemed to be others in the same floor and one other floor as well. Not comforting to know…When asked when the maintenance person would be coming in, he noted that he didn’t know since their schedule was posted upstairs and he didn’t have access. From managing hotels in the past, most employees know when their engineers would be coming in.
We were moved the next day after having to call down to follow up yet again on the status. The person seemed very proud to offer us another room on a high floor “with a view.” What a view we had!…of the rooftop HVAC and equipment of the building next door the alley way with all of the trash.
Upon checkout, we attempted to pay in cash and was told that they do not accept cash overnight. Vital information that should have been shared at check-in. I tried using a gift card to settle the portion of the balance and was told, “I don’t know how to process split payments.”
The overnight person…probably the worst customer experience. His attitude of “what do you want me to do” or “I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do” was absolutely astonishing. There was no care to want to do anything…no offer of compensation from anyone.
I must say that this is a poorly run property. I’ve traveled and even managed hotels in the past and this by far the poorest service we have received. If this is the “new hospitality” we are expected to receive…I’m certainly not for it. We will be sure to never book this...
Read moreIf I could give less than 1 star, I would. We came for the Aftershock music festival, and we will never be back. The front desk staff were not helpful or accommodating at all, and that is if anyone was actually manning the front desk. We requested housekeeping, and our room was not cleaned 1 time during our 4 night/5 day stay. The trash cans in the room were completely over flowing by day 2. At one point, we ran out of toilet paper. We called the front desk multiple times and no one answered. We had to physically go downstairs and ask for toilet paper. We weren’t expecting an amazing view, but we actually had a view of an alleyway filled with trash and a concrete wall that was less than 5 feet away from our window running the height of the building, stifling any sunlight we could have possibly let in. Our room was dark and dingy. The lobby, bar and restaurant downstairs were all ridden with flies. We did an online check out, and were given a final bill of $1085. My card was charged for that amount the day that we checked out. 2 days later, I found 2 more charges on my card from the hotel for another $1130 and $20. We had already heard other people in the hotel complaining that they were being charged twice by mistake. When I called the manager, he accused us of using 4 of their water bottles and told me the check out amount was just an “estimate,” not a final bill. We NEVER used a single water bottle. The manager actually argued with me and told me that they track the water bottles daily. We brought an entire case of Aquafina water to our room. We did not use the Fiji water bottles that they have in the room. If you do choose to stay here, monitor you credit card very closely for the length of your stay and the week after. Be prepared to have a hold on your account for triple the amount of your stay on check in. I would never stay here again and I would not recommend staying here to anyone. Worst hotel I’ve...
