HOT BUNZ — Restaurant in Sacramento

Wife saw this place on Thetasteduo instagram and she was dying to try it.

Patties tasted greasy to me, like the grill or griddle or pan was not cleaned type of taste.

No jalapeños on our jalapeño burgers, we aren’t sure if we asked for tomatoes and lettuce, we thought we did, but didn’t get it and so we asked for it and it was kindly brought us.

Unfortunately the jalapeños looked good and bad like a mix of super cooked and fresh.

We were told they ran out of lettuce and tomatoes, understandable if they had a busy Sunday. We did receive them half way through our meal and that was ok.

I was excited for the Mack attack, the macaroni tasted good, until I got to the patty underneath that tasted greasy and fry’s that looked and tasted over cooked.

The condiment/fountain drink section was dirty and empty, we got the last 5 ketchup packets that were very sticky, we had to wash our hands after emptying them into our plate.

All the tables were dirty when we arrived, I cleaned a high table and then wife decided she wanted a low table, I used their spray and some napkins and cleaned it no problem, it’s Sunday I imagine they’ve been super busy and haven’t been able to come out and clean.

It did bother me that their cleaning spray and cleaning rag were right next to the black to go plates on the front counter, I felt it was too close and could contaminate to go plates.

My recommendation is have a small bucket for rag under the counter and keep the spray bottle under the counter.

It looked like the person in register had a lot of pet hairs on his shirt and hat. We have a dog and cat at home and we could recognize some of the hairs. That was a bummer to see.

Kitchen staff was using foul language that could be heard by our table by the front door. Not saying don’t talk at work, just saying mind your words.

The wait time was on the long side, lots of families coming in to eat never got a warning of long wait times, it would of been nice to hear that there was a bit of a wait while people were ordering.

The place looks awesome, the art looks awesome, the restroom looked clean, the service was awesome very polite person in the front.

Maybe we came after a huge rush, But I would not...

This is a HIDDEN GEM. Burger places are a dime a dozen, but this one is worth the visit! I came to this place for lunch on a whim and was pleasantly surprised!

Food: I had the classic triple smash burger with fries and drink (refillable!). I was pleasantly surprised they had coke zero as I prefer that over diet coke. One bite of the burger patty, and I was in awe and shock. Haven't had a burger that good in a while! The patties were juicy and crispy on the outside, as a good smash burger should be. The cheese was perfectly melted and covered the patties like a blanket. The onions were grilled and diced, and along with zesty pickles made for complete burger! The fries were amazing! Perfect size, not too small or big, and were crispy and seasoned perfectly! And, the dipping sauce was delicious!

Atmosphere: The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed. Really nice murals in the restaurant and bathrooms. Bathrooms were thankfully kept very clean. The whole restaurant was clean, including the outside seating. Plenty of seating inside and out, and it was very relaxing to sit on the outside because of the nice environment and trees around. They also have heat lamps outside those cooler months!

Service: The staff were very helpful and informative. They helped me make a good decision on what I wanted to order. They were friendly and gave great restaurant service overall. I came when it wasn't busy, so I can't speak too much about the quality and attentiveness of the service, but my order came out VERY quick.

Overall, I am very pleased, and I think everyone in the Sacramento and Elk Grove area ought to stop by and make it their go-to burger joint in elk grove!

Don’t get me wrong, the burgers were good, but I was charged twice for one order the second time I visited this burger place. I ordered to go on 3-22-24 and ordered a single burger meal which amounted to $10.88. I inserted my card into their payment machine and signed when the cashier said to sign. After I signed, the cashier said my payment did not go through and I had to insert my card again, which I did, and cashier said I had to sign again. I ended up waiting 30 minutes before I got my to go order. Then I checked my credit card statement today on 3-25-24 I was charged twice for the one meal I purchased. Had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Not sure if they have enough people working since I tried calling them on 3-25-24 to try to get them to resolve the issue. The first time I visited this restaurant I had no issues. Maybe this second visit was just a simple mistake on a duplicate charge by an inexperienced cashier but it’s still a hassle nonetheless until the duplicate charge issue...
