I like this place! The food is authentic. I originally this place coming out of Sprouts. The windows were lined with pictures of food and I was hungry so I decided to try it out. The workers were pleasant. They greeted me at the door and assisted with taking my order. The first visit, I ordered War Wonton soup to go. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was packed in two container, one for broth and the other had the wontons, meat and vegetables. The soup was very flavorful. It was full of various vegetables and meats. My second visit I ordered chicken and mushrooms lunch special. It was not as flavorful as the wonton soup, but still authentic. The serving size was appropriate for a lunch special. I recently saw this place listed in the top 10 for Chinese restaurants in Sacramento. They...

I've eaten at Macau for several years and am finally ready to admit that they're not as good as I keep hoping they are. After being disappointed the past few times I've gone, it's about time I moved on.

Whenever I go, we always order a whole bunch of their salt and peppered dishes, like their squid, eggplant and shrimp, and their famous tofu dish. However, after several experiences of the same dishes that were once fantastic now turned bland and soggy, I'm over Macau Cafe. Their prices aren't exactly the cheapest for Chinese food and considering there are so many other Chinese restaurants in Sac, I'd rather go someplace else for tastier food with bigger portions. My personal choice, Rice Bowl. Granted its not really Hong Kong Style, when you want good Chinese food, don't...

Solid place. Saw some of the reviews saying the food was cheap, that wasn't my experience. I'm no Chinese food connoisseur, so take this with a grain of salt, but fun what I could tell things seemed very authentic and interesting. They didn't have generic options, like orange chicken, and that stood out to me.

I'd like to directly rebut the reviewer who said the sesame chicken was chicken nuggets - it was clearly not in my case. Instead, it was delightful - chicken was very flavorful, and pleasantly crunchy on the outside. Highly recommend the sesame chicken.

Overall, I went in with a lot of trepidation due to some of the reviews I saw, but was...

I used to go here many years ago with my mother. Hadn't been here in over a decade. The atmosphere is still the same. It's intimate and clean. The food is fresh and yummy. I wouldn't recommend the pan fried pot stickers. I believe they were previously Frozen. I did order their $7.99 special of chicken and vegetables over steamed rice which was really good. I ordered one to take home because the vegetables and chicken were so fresh and flavorful. The portion sizes are large. I like the diversity of the menu and that many of the dishes are traditional Chinese dishes that you could not get at American styles Chinese restaurants.

This place was the first place I considered to be a real authentic Chinese / Hong Kong restaurant that I grew up with. Not the Americanized/ Western Chinese food you get. The food has become average, less items due to Covid. It's still passable in a pinch. They have specials between 2-5.
