Sac City Pizza — Restaurant in Sacramento

TLDR: The pizza looks a lot better than it tastes.

Didn't have a lot of time to prep dinner yesterday so decided to try out Sac City Pizza. I've driven by them a number of times and they had excellent reviews.

Ordering was easy online (although the checkout got pretty involved if you want to create an account), parking was plentiful on a Sunday evening, and the place was empty when I picked up my pizza. The interior was pretty sparse but I suspect a lot of their business is take-out and delivery.

My SacCity Combo pizza was ready when I arrived, the employee was very friendly, and I took some of the offerred parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.

Everyone has their preference for pizza styles and this one is pretty classic. Thicker crust, heavy cheese, lots of toppings, and cooked in a modern pizza oven.

Unfortunately while the pizza looked delicious but was really kind of disappointed as I started in. The sauce was kind of weak and while the crust was nicely crisp, also tasted kind of like frozen dough? Cheese was also just ok and I'd guess the whole thing just tasted kind of bland.

There are a lot of people who love this pizza but I'm just not a fan and doubt I'll return. Giving it 3 stars as I wouldn't say the pizza...

I was given an impossible task on a Thursday morning to find a pizza place in Sacramento to feed 245 teenagers and staff for Friday about 4! See we are from Grants Pass Oregon and our Marching Band and Color Guard was competing Saturday at the university and needed to eat once we arrived in town before they practiced Friday night! I called Raul, the owner, sorry if the spelling is wrong! I told him what I needed and he said "no problem! What time do you need them?" I was running late and had to adjust the pickup time a little bit and again it was no problem! The pizzas where great! The kids loved them! And we got first in the competition! Finally a great local pizza spot that isn't a boring & overpriced chain restaurant. Sac City Pizza in Land Park is a true gem! I had their large Sac City Combo, and it was absolutely fantastic. They have lots of great selections at a reasonable price.

Beyond the pizza itself, the service was friendly and efficient. The staff was welcoming and helpful, making the whole experience even better. They also have two large flatscreens and serve beer; so why not stay and catch a game?
