ごちそう様でした!! The sign for "Tokyo Table" has been catching my eye for a while. I am Japanese and moved from Tokyo to Sacramento this April.
I visited during lunchtime, but since the temperature was expected to reach 102°F, I thought that something refreshing like sushi would be gentle on my body. I ordered the Bento Boxies. The bento came with a side of rice and miso soup, creating a traditional Japanese lunch style.
The interior of the restaurant is luxurious and clean. Bossa nova and jazz music were playing, and I was able to relax while waiting for my food to be served.
The moment the waitress brought the bento, I couldn't help but say, "Beautiful" out loud. It's very difficult to cut rolls into evenly sized pieces, but all six pieces were cut to the same height. Additionally, the avocado and imitation crab were positioned perfectly in the center, making it a beautifully crafted California roll.
I have experience attending a sushi school in Japan, and I believe that even Japanese sushi chefs would find it challenging to prepare rolls as beautifully as this.
Pork katsu is considered a comfort food in Japan. I haven't seen my family in Japan for a while, but it reminded me of my mother and brought back a lot of nostalgia.
Despite the lunchtime rush, the waitress was always attentive to all the customers. She ensured that everyone had a wonderful experience during their lunch.
Additionally, there is a wide selection of sake. The menu is categorized into Junmai, Ginjo, and Daiginjo. They also offer popular brands in Japan, such as Hakkaisan and Kubota. These pair well with sushi, allowing you to enjoy wine-like pairings and harmonious combinations.
The food was very delicious, but for someone like me who is feeling a bit homesick, it was a truly precious experience that reminded me of the flavors of Japan.
I am currently pregnant, so I’m avoiding raw fish. However, once my baby is born, I’d like to come back and try tuna, salmon roe, and oysters.
お店の方々へ、素晴らしい経験をありがとうございました。どのお料理も素晴らしかったです。またお店に伺います。(Thank you to everyone at the Tokyo Table for a wonderful experience. Every dish was fantastic. I will definitely...
Read moreThis restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! I don’t even know where to start. The food is excellent. Everything is handmade including the gyozas. Sushi is some of the best I’ve had in Sacramento. Extremely fresh fish and meticulously prepared sushi rolls that are works of art (see pics). Their bento boxes are really filling and are a good deal. Even the toilets are amazing. Their bathrooms are packing two smart Japanese toilets manufactured by Woodbridge. I’ve never been so excited to see a toilet before, but these $1400 toilets were something to behold (see pic). You can tell a lot of work went into the design of the restaurant. I feel like I’m dining at a table in Tokyo but then I go outside and see that I’m still in Sacramento then get sad. Luckily I can always escape to Japan by visiting Tokyo Table. I think this place will be the new staple restaurant in this...
Read moreAbsolutely. LOVE. This. Place! My partner and I live nearby and were very excited when Tokyo Table came into town. And we have NOT been disappointed one bit! The fish is incredibly fresh and high quality, the sake list is extensive and exciting to explore, the service is stellar (shoutout to Robert I think? Maybe Bryan?), the ambiance and decor are very comfortable and inviting. Some of the owners happened to be eating nearby during our last visit and they were extremely kind and engaging, they were exploring some new desserts that looked divine! Cannot wait for that matcha layered cake to hit the menu should they decide to add it! My only possible knock against this place is the price is a little high for the neighborhood, and that might be a struggle for them going forward. But if you're willing to put the extra dollars down, you will not regret choosing...
