On one hand, our waiter was wonderful. Kudos to him. I don't recall his name- I was the sheepish one sat at the end of the table- but he was very understanding, patient, and apologetic whenever things went wrong. He was very down-to-earth, though it was worrying that the bare minimum pleasantries were considered extraordinarily considerate. From the other reviews, management does not seem the best. The owner himself was awkwardly stood over his shoulder thanking us as we left, as if he was trying to supervise his drastic failure at kitchen oversight.
On the other, the food was terrible. The beans were cold and coated in grease. In fact, EVERYTHING was coated in a thick slather of gross, blood-orange liquid that left my stomach feeling like I downed a jug of rat poison when consumed. I initially returned my quesadilla believing there was a cheese sauce added without my knowledge, yet it was just the grease from their blatantly undrained chicken making it feel like I was shoveling creamy queso liquid into my mouth. This, I believe, was excusable enough. It would be a two-star review if it was just this. However, they have no attention to orders, causing a potentially fatal consequence when I wanted to have a decent dinner!
Their handling of a common allergen- shrimp- is incredibly neglectful. Even the waiter remarked on how embarrassing it was for there to be shrimp nestled in my dear mother's food. (Not only was there shrimp, but there was steak as well. She ordered plain chicken fajitas. Not as if steak is worse than a lethal allergen, though.) You have no idea how much of a night-ruiner it is to have to comfort your poor mother clearly trying to conceal her anxiety as the doom set in when she realised that she, for the first time in many years, consumed something that could kill her. I cannot stress enough that their handling of allergens is woefully inadequate. I admit our table's fault in the situation- she believed such a thing would be unspeakable and didn't mention her allergy to shrimp- but with the haphazard nature in which all of our dishes were assembled, even if she noted it, it would likely be entirely ignored. Genuinely embarrassing.
TL;DR: Great waiter! Poor allergen handling leading to reaction and awful, cold, and...
Read moreThis was my first time to eat at Cazadores. I enjoyed the serving of tortilla chips and salsa. I liked the lingering heat from the salsa and the texture. This salsa was a blended salsa and not chunky. The salsa was brought to the table in a quart-sized pitcher. I had two full bowls of the salsa during the meal! The food was excellently flavored. The rice had a light smokey taste. The refried beans had a nice texture and moisture level. The chili sauce on the cheese enchiladas complimented the rest of the flavors on my plate. The server was attentive and pleasant. We had everything we needed. I enjoyed my meal. Next time I'm in Saginaw close to a meal time, you'll find me at Cazadores!
I have been back now to the restaurant about 10 times. I have nothing but the best Mexican meals. I have learned to appreciate the Cinco de Mayo enchilada meal! The meal is served with two beef and two shredded chicken enchiladas, as well as steamed rice. I love the flavors of both the beef and chicken enchiladas! Tonight, I added a pork tamale; wonderful flavor! I know I will sound like a pig, but I had 2 1/2 bowls of salsa/chips, one of the chicken enchiladas, half of the rice, the pork tamale, and three glasses of brewed ice tea! Having grow up around excellent Mexican food in the American Southwest, I will simply conclude that Cazadores authentic Mexican food "holds their own" against any quality Mexican restaurant in the country.
We tried the chicken fajitas tonight and they were wonderful. It was a great portion. They were flavorful. You cannot go wrong ordering the...
Read moreThis place has always been my favorite to go to. There birria tacos are amazing as well as their drinks. However, I called around 2pm yesterday on 5/5 (cinco de mayo) because last year when i went it was a long wait which was totally fine. I understand not making a reservation and having the repercussions. So i decided to be prepared and make a reservation for four at 6pm. When we got there, we went up front and weren’t greeted for 15 minutes. They were clearly understaffed where it looked like only 3 people working, which no problem at all, yet they saw us standing there and disregarded us completely. When a server finally came, she told us quietly that they were closed. I stated that we called earlier and they took our reservation, she huffed, grabbed four menus and didn’t even direct us where to sit. We were all stunned by this service. We decided to sit down to discuss on leaving which we did. As we walked out there were multiple people waiting. A customer asked us what was happening and we explained that they were closed. The server didn’t even bother to inform the other customers. I have always loved the staff including the managers and the experience here was always great. Now my opinion has changed and I hope that they aren’t treating other...
