The staff was very friendly and they were compliant with masks (compared to Indianapolis where I’m from) which was comforting. The lady did have trouble scanning my card though and originally said the price was $30.XX but when my card finally went through the total said $35.XX. She was handling two tickets at a time so IDK if she mixed up our tickets causing me to pay more or if it was taxes (??) idk. But she had scanned my card three times and I didn’t want to make her rescan it for the original price so I just paid the extra $5 and my tip. Food wasn’t what I was expecting. The General Tsos Chicken in Hot Sauce was much better than I anticipated. It was sweet at first but the spice lingered which I enjoyed. Too often general tsos are way too sweet but their sauce had the right balance IMO. But it was a lot of breading and not a whole lot of chicken but...whatever. The Mongolian beef was the strangest Mongolian beef I’ve had. It was creamy and had a strange taste to it. All in all it was a nice place to get dinner but I likely will not be coming back as it was a disappointment. Especially since they’re “award winning” I just felt it was subpar. If I do come back though I will happily order the...
Read moreForbidden City Chinese Restaurant has been good to my Family for 40+ years. Each meal is served with it's own decadent sauce. Even the service is just as excellent as the food. The waitress hooks you up and tops your water off. She's polite and respectful to all who dine inside. A great big thank you to you, lady. Order egg rolls for an appetizer. Their egg rolls are the best in Michigan. Forbidden City has chow mein or rice, steamed, or fried. Their crab cheese is served with 2 sauces on a carry tray, the same with their delicious egg rolls. Ordered Forbidden City Steak for dinner. Came sizzling on a plate with onions & bean sprouts. Oh! Tried saving a take home, but, it was too flavorful to save any. Nearing completion, your hostess brings the check to your table. On the tray are however many people ate, amount of Chinese Fortune Cookies. Please, Go to Forbidden City Chinese Restaurant if you're in the mood to taste perfection, served with a beautiful smile. Thank You For Reading My Personal...
Read moreFirst time at this restaurant, I've always heard a lot of good things about it. Our waitress was friendly, but my mom and I were forgotten. Two other tables of people came in 20 minutes AFTER us and they got their drinks first, then their apps first, and then their entrées. So this takes a star off, and the way it made me feel, I probably shouldn't be so generous and take more stars off. But it wasn't our servers fault, she was handling too many tables and the owner/manager kept barking more orders at her. Owner/manager was rude, no smile, even at check out. Stone face. Prices for apps were a bit high, $6 for 4 crab cheese, and they weren't that great. Egg drop soup was weird, not traditional and made with egg whites only. The cashew chicken I do not recommend getting, I had maybe 6 pieces of small unbreaded chicken and the rest was vegetables and cashews and way too salty. First time here, pretty atmosphere, bad experience, mediocre food, unfortunately I will...
