Ernesto’s is a long time Saint George restaurant. It is located in the Phoenix plaza strip mall at the corner of Sunset Blvd. and Valley View Drive. Their food is always consistent and very delicious and they have quite a loyal following. I’ve been ordering the same meal now for 23 years, a pork burrito with white sauce. The pork is cubed, very flavorful, and very tender. The meals come with a side of rice and beans. My wife’s favorite meal is the shredded chicken chimichanga, which is also very delicious, and perfectly cooked. The restaurant is painted in bright colors, and is always kept very clean. Chips and salsa are provided free. The service is always very quick and responsive. There’s never a long wait for your food. They have both booths and table seating. They have a couple of large tables to handle larger groups. The dining area is fairly utilitarian. Muy buena comida!

I usually like ernesto's, but this evening, I ordered the enchilada verda with chicken for takeout. The meal looked like something off of a kids' menu. When I took the food back in to bring it to their attention, the guy working seemed to not are that the food was not the correct proportion. I told him I had ordered this same meal multiple times, and it is one of the biggest meals they have and that I was not pleased with it. But again, he did not care. So I just took the food and left. After getting home and tasting the food, something is definitely not right. The food was not good. I hope the owner will do something about this issue because in my mind Ernesto's is one of the better Mexican restaurants in town. Usually.

The food was great! Wasn’t sure if I could trust the google reviews but my wife and I decided to give them a shot. It was the bomb 💣.com! Chips and salsa were awesome, my taco 🌮 was delicious and my burrito 🌯 was satisfying. I did think they were slightly skimpy on the rice and beans but we left full and happy anyway. Staff was great and super friendly and... they kept the chips and salsa coming without having to ask. I will mos def come here again!!!

I honestly don't know if I'll ever go back. Which is sad because the food was great! But being someone who NEEDS to be gluten free, I was disappointed in our server.

I called before hand and talked to the owner who said that they could make anything for me gluten free! And told me i only needed to really avoid 2 things. So great! I was excited! I understand we were one of those annoying groups of 15 people. Our waiter came up to us and, it being our first time there we had lots of questions. And i especially wanted to talk to him about being gluten free. One of the first things he said to the first person in our group to order was "Can you hurry up! I have other tables i need to get to so please speed it up." Seriously dude? Every person he talked to he was speed talking and in a hurry. He got to me and I told him I talked to the owner and was assured what I wanted could be done gluten free. But i would like him to double check with the kitchen and make sure it was ok for me. And he kept saying "it's fine it's fine" and I insisted he needed to check because he did not sound like he really knew. And he says "well other people do it that way so it's fine." Well ok, I don't care about those other people because idk if they had Celiacs or if it was just a preference. Whatever. I should've pushed to talk to the owner. He brought out the wrong thing. I ate it anyway cause he said it was gluten free. Well I've been...

OMG, the food here is sooo good, and the plates are huge so if you're going for the first time just be aware... we ended up ordering more than we could eat, practically took home a whole other meal. Food is 5 stars hands down, and our waiter was great... bless his heart i dont think he ever stopped moving he was so busy. The young hostess though gets zero stars. She spilled water on the table when bringing our drinks and didn't bring any napkins to clean it up, she never brought menus so my husband had to go grab them, and she didnt bring us silverware either. And when we went to pay I sat at the register for several minutes while she played on her phone. The waiter finally had to ask her to work the counter. When she came up she barely spoke two words, ran my card, gave me the receipts and then just walked away without waiting for me to give her the signed copy back. It's a good thing the food is as delicious as it is because otherwise we wouldn't come back. Its a bad first and last impression...

You cannot go into ERNESTO's and not ask for PUPUSAS, that right there is a SIN. If you never had or don't know what a pupusa is then it's time to try one. Mix or Cheese are my fav, but beware if you are like most people i have taken there to eat pupusas you cannot just eat one, nor two might as well order a few more to go. They are great for breakfast, lunch, dinner and definitely a snack throw them into the oven or heat them up on a pan. eat them alone or with the salad or just the sauce it doesn't matter. love them or hate them you need to try it. i discovered them during my vacation to El Salvador which is a safe place by the way, fake media always making things worse then they are. My family and i rented a car and we hit the road headed south to the beach. rented a little cabin near the ocean, dance during the carnival, visited the war memorials and we ate tons of PUPUSAS. Can't wait to...
