I went there because I really enjoyed sourdough pizza last time I visited San Francisco. They lost one star because I couldn't really taste any hint of sourdough in the crust. They lost a second star because my pizza didn't look anything like the pizza that was pictured on the menu (mine seemed to be missing about 1/3 of the pepperoni slices - the menu picture was jam packed with pepperonis, so much that they overlapped, but mine were real spread out). They lost a third star because their online menu doesn't have any prices, and it turned out it was because they were way overpriced - I paid $17.12 for a medium "49er." They lost the 4th star because of their ridiculous pricing - A 49er is just a double pepperoni, which is priced at $15.99 for a medium. But if I had ordered a medium 2 topping, and asked for double pepperoni, it would have been $13.99. So they charged me 2 extra dollars because I ordered by using one of their kitschy San Francisco names. Fool me once, shame on you. But you won't fool me twice, because I'm...
Read moreIt had been a long time since I had been to this restaurant. I didn't even know it was still there until my friend suggested we go there. They have an 'all you can eat' option , which I did order. The salad bar is lacking quite a few ingredients. There was no broccoli, fruit, or crackers of any kind. They did have quite a few salad dressings. You only get one trip to the salad bar with a tiny bowl. The pizza is up front by the counter and you have to ask the employee to get you a slice or two. The employees are really nice and worked hard to make sure they had the pizza we requested. The pizza was just OK. I want super impressed with any of it. The crust is big. I couldn't eat the ends because it was just too heavy. The atmosphere seems like an old Cafe with yellow...
Read moreWent to use the Starving Student card that I paid $30 for ... but the manager refused to honor the coupon, citing inflation. The coupon was for a thin crust pepperoni pizza for $5.99. given that they're only providing less than half the crust and only having 1 topping, that's a pretty stupid excuse. Gonna refund me the cost of the card? Pathetic customer experience - an intelligent manager would recognize that high-end pizza chains are going to be one of the first establishments to lose customers in a recession, so taking a small hit to honor coupons you agreed to would have been in your best interest to retain customers. Dumb move, Pier 49, dumb move. Enjoy the coming recession and good luck surviving it on such minimal...
