I have been to Cracker Barrel restaurants in many states and have been eating there for more than 25 years. This was the worst experience I ever had. It's Friday night, my dad's 82nd birthday, and we get a new waitress. We were very patient with her. However, after 30 minutes (our seating section was not busy at this time), we had still not received our salads or appetizer. I gently reminded her and she brought them out. Right after (within two minutes) she set down the salads and appetizer, they brought out our entrées. The table was over-stacked with food items, it was a bit ludicrous. They brought my dad an entrée that he did not order-- they brought him Chicken-fried Steak instead of the fried chicken he ordered. Finally another member of the waitstaff came over and volunteered to fix the issue with the entrée. The manager on duty did stop by a couple of times and we explained the situation, but I did not ask for a free dinner or anything (been in the restaurant business 25+ years) and I know new employees must learn from their mistakes. It was frustrating because it was my dad's birthday. I think we had just about enough when we asked for coffee and received it ten minutes later, and found it to be lukewarm. I generally leave generous tips, but I could hardly bring myself to even leave the customary 15%, definitely not the 25% I give for awesome service. We finally left without even browsing the giftshop, which we have always loved to do. The only reason I am giving it two stars instead of one is because the manager on duty did stop by, and the other staff member did her best to rectify the mistake after the fact. Edited to add- I did as suggested and contacted the company and was told I would receive a digital comp card, and a month later I still have not received it even after asking about its whereabouts. I do not think I will continue to give my money to a company that cannot even follow through and do that which it says it is...
Read moreChicken and dumplings are my favorite meal. I choose green beans and greens as my sides.
At one time, I received both sides in small bowls. At the last two or three Cracker Barrels, which leads me to think this is a corporate decision, I receive my green beans along with my chicken and dumplings.
Today, I received a liquidy mess. The broth for the chicken and dumplings was thin, and I searched to make sure I had chicken. Angie, our waitress, came by and asked as she passed going to another table, something like "Is everything ok?" I raised my voice and said, "Truthfully?!" But she left that table and went back to the kitchen another way.
I ate my green beans which were weakened by the chicken "broth" before I thought to take a picture. Had Angie stopped back by I was going to ask her, "Would you like to eat this?"
I also had to ask her for a refill for my husband's tea. It seemed she was abrupt with us but was friendly with other tables and chatted with them. Of course we are there to eat, but we find it's nice to talk to servers, especially when we are traveling.
I did tip Angie, my husband said I was generous. Suffice it to say, we won't stop here on our way back through. And, from now on, I am going to try to remember to ask for my green beans in a small bowl...
Read moreNot a big fan. I ordered chicken plate, Chicken was undercooked, but I was able to take it home, reheat it slowly wrapped in foil next day, it was absolutely wonderful. My husband ordered burger without the bun & fries (but received mashed potatoes instead, & the bun!) He said everyone was good, although our food was overpriced. His burger was a very thin burger, & tho he is not a fan of smashed burgers, he said it was very good! Carrots were ok, tho not candied carrots or sweet carrots as advertised. Bread was very good. We arrived about 5:45 p.m., & wanted to order off the before six pm menu. It was a couple minutes after 6 before we were waited on. The server told us that since we arrived prior to six, that we could have the early bird meals (as none of us are big eaters). We were brought the regular "after 6p.m." menu. Too much food & over priced!!! Didn't care for that at all🤑! Service was very good, no complaints there! We are typically big fans of CB, but this one didn't measure up. We ate at a C.B. in another state last week, loved it. Disappointed in both that they don't gift wrap your gifts anymore! I purchased gifts both times, neither times did they gift wrap for me as requested. Sign me, For he ate, For...
