Jake's Steakhouse & Sports Bar — Restaurant in Saint Joseph

Terrible service on bar side and it was slow 13 people thats with me and mother. The waitresses come to your table takes outer order (without a mask on!!, when we enter the building sign up saying that) takes awhile to get my drink. Which Ignored because I came into the building not having high hopes for anything. First time there also, ordered my drink mother order hers and food. I had 3/4 my drink gone out of a 16 oz beer. She comes bring my mother her food( without a mask on) doesn't offer if I need another drink. Then 5 mins later ask how how things are going, then gone and still doesn't offer if I would like another beer? For place you would think if you want to teach your servers to keep on up sale on liquor and beer, specially if its slow. Helps with the numbers, once I've finished drinking my beer. Waited, and then waited and did some more for 15 mins. Server never came back in from the Patio, my mother had to go up to the bar to get another beer. Once the bartender poured my drink, then somehow out of the blue. She shows up and gives me my drink, and then leaves goes outside to the patio. Well once I drank that beer down waited another 10 mins to be asked for another one. Which never happen! I said hell with it, first experience with the place and it was terrible if I was able to give zero stars i would. Now when the server came back in after we already asked another server for another drink for my mother. She just all sudden comes to us and ask how was things, ask for the check and box for the food. I looked at my mother told her no on leaving the server 2 dollars. This was my first time in Jake's and I have to say that I really enjoyed everything. I went there with my wife, my brother and his fiance, well I have my sister and her fiance. After all four of them strongly recommended this establishment.

For starters, we got the jalapeno pepper popper dip with pita everything about this was phenomenal. I do think they overcooked the pita just a tad, but it was pretty busy and it was still absolutely delicious. As well as chips and salsa, you cannot go wrong with that.

For our entrees, we ordered the Mac attack Wrap, black and blue steak wrap, chicken alfredo, and two triple b burgers.

Everybody's food was amazingly well made an abortions were large everybody had food to take home. My brother and I both got the triple b burgers, we have no complaints but whoever made the beer cheese on this night, must have been drowning his sorrows in his beer cheese because the beer cheese was about seven parts of beer in one part cheese. Actually brought the Burger home and gave it to my little brothers and they loved it.

But just a heads up to any vegans, like the name of the restaurant states it is a steakhouse and a sports bar, you won't find any vegan options here other than vegetables, fries, and the chips and salsa. I'm only saying this because my wife is a vegan.

Also, their french fries are to die for. Highly recommend going here...

The food is great, very good for the price. We have tried many things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Usually we are seated right away and get our order taken and brought to the table in a reasonable time. Interesting enough atmosphere to be not disappointed by what we perceive to be a bit of a delay when staff appear to be quite busy. We understand that. My concern is the last two times we were there, very recently. One time was a rather busy Sunday. Seated and orders taken promptly but waited about 45-50 minutes for our food. Our last visit during the week there was no one to greet us at the place where the host meets us. There were two groups of people in the visible part of the restaurant ( meaning we can’t see into the bar area). We stood and waited for about 5 minutes and noticed one couple had food and the other couple didn’t. The couple without food got up and came up to us and said they were seated promptly but had been waiting about 45 minutes and no one took their order. They left and we left also. Are there staffing issues? I’m not so much complaining as concerned as we have been coming to this restaurant for quite a long time and food quality, pricing and service have previously been exemplary.
