Quiet, well maintained and underrated Walk with coffee to Harriet or Raspberry Island or over the Bridge. If only I was online and really shared that. But I think in real life, this location is underrated.
Who doesn't love getting coffee when there is a great view to walk to? Yet 'everyone' stays inside... marveling that they don't need a laptop or their cell phone and repeating thoughts synonymous with their Mothers remembrance of this place, clutching their 'drink' and wondering if they have enough to do.
I once saw a whole bike team almost get water here.
Either bridge sitting area is great just 30 ft away. See eagles, barges, sturgeon jumping, the lift bridge, house boats, the ferry launches weddings the row team all for free. Or walk the new riverwalk. Or the historic stuff at Harriet Island. Or just sit and stare and stare at the Mississippi on a nice curved park bench on the island like 200 ft away under flowering trees. With Starbucks. Bring your brief case and get extra credit. If you are over 38 and serious about 'doing' something there like an outdoor team meeting maybe the Army will sponsor your next corporate project.
Better yet they should knock out the wall facing the river and build a direct path outward more directly than is there now towards the river and benches to give 'people' the right idea of what to 'do' with their brand new coffee.
I've noticed this isn't Chicago. It's like, do I take a Right here? And walk to a bench? Well, is there a nuclear bomb threat? And do you have wings? What if Chipotle needs a second location?!!!
I know Canal Street only takes you there. So should the...
Read moreThey have some great staff, but this location is not one I will be visiting again. They donât participate in the same refill program that other locations do.
When I ordered a handcrafted beverage in a personal cup, I asked for a refill of hot coffee an hour later while staying in the store. The barista, Yecenia, told me that they donât do refills of hot coffee unless I ordered a hot coffee to start with. I mentioned that most Starbucks do refills of hot coffee with any initial beverage purchase. She said âyou can look it up online.â I found where on the Starbucks support website it shows that refills are allowed regardless of original beverage purchased and she said âwell weâre a franchise store so we donât do that. And we only do hot refills and not cold refills.â
I have met some great baristas here, but if I canât get refills, I donât want to come back. Also, the chairs are a little bit uncomfortable. The free parking is...
Read moreThis is my #1 favorite Starbucks to go to. My coworker and I go in several times a week. We were so excited when we saw there was a Starbucks opening so close to our office that we would give each other updates every morning on how we saw it was progressing. The coffee is great and reliable, exactly what you'd expect at a Starbucks. But the real shine of this place is the wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly and kind! They learned our names early, ask us about our days and our lives, and notice when one of us is gone for a bit. They're super friendly even when they're busy (but it never stops them from being super efficient). Ultimately, I know I go there more often BECAUSE the staff is so fantastic. I highly encourage local folks to grab an iced tea or coffee from this Starbucks next time you go for a walk around...
