Uncle Andy's Ice Cream Parlor — Restaurant in Saint Pete Beach

It was so delicious, as always. Uncle Andy's is a tradition which we frequent more than once every year when we come to Florida, from Ontario, Canada, as we have done for so many years. The staff working last night was terrific but we were devastated to learn Uncle Andy's will be moving very soon. Why is it that something so popular and such a land mark is being moved and modernized? Just the fact that Uncle Andy's has not changed that much over the years is the charm and uniqueness of this ice cream parlour. The accessibility of Uncle Andy's from the street is perfect; and it would always draw us in to the other shops as well. Just wanted to say my thoughts that change is not always better, sometimes the old and familiar is what brings people back, as well as the location on the street that is visible to people passing by. This place used to be Uncle Andy’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream. It was incredibly charming, had maybe 15 handmade ice cream flavors, and was just a happy place to be. Now, they’ve moved it closer to the pool, turned half of it into a convenience store, and cut it down to the eight standard flavors (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, etc). I drove halfway across the state just to get their Superman flavor that they had for as long as I can remember. The half convenience store, half ice cream shop just isn’t the same as what it used to be.
