Casa 28 Mexican Grill
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Casa 28 Mexican Grill , and it was an experience worth sharing. While the restaurant tends to favor more of a Mexican cuisine, there were many flavors from other Latin American and Caribbean countries as alternative options. The vibrant ambiance and warm hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon.
The menu is a delightful journey through Latin America and the Caribbean, offering a diverse selection of dishes that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of the region. We started with the chips and salsa, which were perfectly crisp and the salsa heat level was right on point.
For the main course, I opted for the a Peruvian classic, Lomito Saltado, with white rice. The steak was tender and flavorful, cooked to perfection and was very satisfying. My husband ordered a Wet Burrito which was extremely large and bountiful apparently since all that was left at the end was a white plate.
Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Their passion for the restaurant and cuisine was evident and added a personal touch to the dining experience. Casa 28 Mexican Grill is a little hidden gem in Saint Petersburg, offering a true taste of Latin America and the Carribbean with an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're a fan of Latin food or new to the cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their...
Read moreSo apparently this place opened about 6 months ago, but last night was my first (hopefully of many) visit. As I was reaching for the handle of the door, I saw that they closed at 9:00, looked at my watch and saw 8:53, and said to myself, "I don't want to be that guy" and retracted my hand to turn away. A dude was out front and encouraged me to go in, so I did. Greeted immediately by a sweet woman behind the counter, I apologized for entering so close to closing time and asked if there was something quick and easy for the chef. She said, 'Cuban sandwich" and my internal voice wailed "f* yeah!". I ordered it, and let me tell you, it was AWESOME. As I was waiting for the sandwich, I walked around the inside of the place to have a look, and I saw the specials board. I had immediate regret for not ordering the ribs 🤣🤣🤣. Hopefully they're on the menu again soon and I can try them. Anyway, I'll definitely be back and I would strongly recommend the Cuban sandwich there. Saying that as someone who's live in this area since 2005; I've eaten a...
Read moreThe current 4.7 on google at present is decieving. Our experience was meh to frustrating at best. Starting with the atmosphere. The music is too loud so the server couldn’t hear our orders well. The booths are very straight up and down and uncomfortable. The lights are super bright (like get out your sunglasses) and the tvs inside were playing Murder she wrote so we had to eat staring at Angela Lansbury. Gross. Then the service. Friendly but painfully slow. Took us 1 hour and 40 min to get in and out. Also some of our stuff was not right. Like my mom ordered a negro modelo and was served a modelo especial. I ordered my tacos with no onions and they came plagued with onions. Now the food. Not bad, not great. Nothing that would make us come back. Lastly the prices were ok to somewhat pricey, but the cherry on top was that you pay more if using a credit card. Also don’t order the bacon cheeseburger, you will pay $3 more for literal bacon bits hidden under the...
