We ate here again today and it was exceptional. Barbacoa tacos, beef fajita tacos, chili Relleno ( Monday only ) with rice, beans, red & green sauces.. Every bit was authentic and delicious. The fajita meat was tender, well seasoned and not over cooked. The barbacoa was super flavorful and moist with little pieces of fat scattered throughout (-the way it should be, not shredded pot roast that you find many places that don't know what they're doing). The green sauce is text book Mexican Taqueria and the reason to go. The beans look a bit watery and the rice looks a little too plain but both deliver on taste. The chili relent was absolute perfection.. the egg batter was delicate and of perfect texture.. it retains a little of the cooking oil but that's the nature of the relleno - I wrapped it in a fresh hot flour tortilla and slathered on the green sauce and I was in pure heaven. The 3 employees there were all very friendly, very outgoing, checking on us during our meal, asking if everything was ok. Yes, it's a converted gas station, it's not the most well organized or tidy place in town but their food is simply unbeatable for authentic Mexican style 'street food'. I know of nothing else like it here in St. Pete. Because of this, it may not be for everyone but if you're looking for great eats, cheap and really pushing the standard for authenticity, then this place cannot be beat...
Read moreLegit. They just earned some regular customers. You order at the counter and then sit anywhere. Lots of seating available. They brought our food to us when it was ready ( didn't take long at all) and it was delicious!
I had a barbacoa and carnitas taco. They didn't skimp on the meat, very full tacos. Meat was well seasoned and the chile verde hot sauce was soooo good! Ordered a pork tamale - also delicious! Hubby ordered the pork curry but also got to try the chicken and goat curry. Amazing curries. Flavors were really well developed and portions are huge. Beans and rice - I don't know how they cook their beans but it was really tasty. Creamy and very flavorful. I normally don't really care for beans and rice, but have to say it made me wish I had ordered some here! My son got the chimichanga and said he enjoyed it as well.
Service was friendly and attentive. We were checked on quite often and everyone was so nice. You pay at the register after you eat. They've only been open since November 2017 but if they keep up the amazing food and service, they will definitely be around for a long time. A must visit if you're...
Read moreIm giving a 1 star on the service unfortunately im unable to say anything about the food seeing how my family was unable to eat there. Lets start off by it was our 1st time going there we have heard lots of good reviews of this place so we decided to try it out. Well we walk in and look at the menu hanging up and decided on what we would like to order. Well seeing how there was NO sign saying where to order i proceed to where the cash register was im standing there and there is a women cutting lime and a man on the grill a gentleman with a black shirt comes out from the freezer and just looks at me and then takes the people order who was looking at the menu. Still have not been asked if i need help. So then finally someone noticed me and came to the register and i said i would like to order food the man then said to me well you should of just told us that. The whole interaction was very unprofessional and just left a bad feeling with me so we ended up leaving. Im not gonna support small business...
