All these Kava bars are categorized by Google as restaurants or alcohol bars or coffee shops it seems. So most of the rating questions don’t apply.
Having said this, this is my favorite Kava/Kratom bar in the St. Pete/Tampa area. The staff is all very friendly and even more so as you become a regular.
It can get busy and sometimes there is a line to wait in during rush hours, but nothing to deter you from coming in. It just means it’s popular and they serve great products.
Don’t forget to try Evie’s Bakery items in the display case. All home made by a local. Some are vegan, some are not, but every single thing I have tried has been crazy delicious.
There is a lot of free parking right out front which is nice, it’s pet friendly, and vape friendly indoors and cigs allowed outside on the large covered patio area/back yard; also great for friendly dogs.
Working remotely here is great if you don’t have to take any calls. There are plenty of outlets, free fast wifi, and quite a bit of seating for laptop users including couches.
Each kava tender plays their own selection of music, which helps keep the environment interesting.
Note for remote workers only: I do wish they would keep the volume down during business hours, especially the bass. It’s basically impossible to take a business call or zoom meeting without my manager and coworkers asking to repeat myself or asking why it’s so loud where I am. Since the music is loud, the patrons talk much louder which just adds to it. I would suggest business hours have much lower volume, and then around 5pm crank it back up. But that’s just a personal preference as a remote worker. I started going to two other bars more often during work hours. Or just working from home. If you’re not taking/making calls during work, none of the above applies.
Overall, I love this place, and have made some good friends here and even reacquainted with some from years ago.
I highly recommend their Kratom (not a kava drinker here), and their prices are some of the...
Read moreTo start with, this place used to be one of my favorites. Last night which was April 21st, me and my friends went to Muddy Waters like usual and we set on the couches. While coversating with each other one of the employees which was a larger sized, caucasian American with tattoos approached us and said "nah, if you guys aren't getting a drink yall need to get out of here". I'm assuming they have implemented a new rule where you have to buy something which is understandable but if I'm not aware of the rule I feel he should of approached us with more respect. Anyway, I responded and said "oh of course, that's fine". He walked away and we started deciding on what we should buy and he says "I mean now". I went up and asked if I could have an espresso and he replies "are they getting something" and I said "I'm not sure" and he says "well all of you need to get something or leave because we are not running a homeless shelter here". He was extremely rude so I went to them and said let's just go yall. He followed us out, yelled at us while we were leaving peacefully, and embarrassed us altogether. We did not deserve that type of treatment and the whole situation could have been handled differently without an issue. There are nice employees here, but I will never go here again and it's best you dont either. In my opinion, Mad Hatters is the best option. It bothers me that we were treated so rudely for not knowing the policy. I dont know if he had a bad night or what, but nobody deserves that type...
Read moreI was cleaning out the cabinets and I stumbled upon a muddy water hydroflask… unused and I thought what a waste! I’m writing a review a year later from the time I was “tricked” into buying a big $80 hydroflask. We called muddy water’s one day to ask ahead of time if they sold large quantities of Kava and get pricing. The associate over the phone told us only the price of the kava… NOT that you buy a canteen for $80 and then buy the Kava on top of that. We went down there and it was the same woman as the person on the phone. She SPECIFICALLY did not tell us we were buying a hydroflask canteen to go with our Kava until she handed us the bill and the flask (we had already asked about pricing over the phone AND in person and she didn’t mention paying an additional 80+, not once.). $80 for the flask plus around $30 for the drink. She had already made it, we were uncomfortable and embarrassed and bought the darn thing. Now I will forever have this $80 hydro flask that I will never use and was tricked into getting yikes! We’ve never been back to muddy waters. Also doesn’t help the lady said the marketing and the $80 hydroflasks were her idea. It was all a huge scam from a person trying to prove to her boss that her idea worked. The best way to get someone to never go back to your establishment is to have them unexpectedly pay an extra $80 than they expected to...
