I visited this restuarant on December 28,2020 about noon time, i have only eaten breakfast there and quite delightful however with that being said i sadly i order scramble eggs over easy which means lighty cooked not hard as rocks the waitress proceeded to educate me on just how these scamble eggs will be prepared i felt she wasn't talking to 6 year old child instead of mature likely season 64 years old lady i let her finish and said you are standing right over me i don't have a hearing problem and i thank her for explaining the definition of how i wanted my eggs that day, i told her that i am a Culinary Chef and forget what i just order could you please change my order to one egg over easy and hold the education. Sadly, once i received my food it wasn't as tasty and delightful as i have had in the past 15 years maybe she is used to talking to people who are unsure of what they want to eat that i can understand but for someone to question a customer who has eaten there before many times a education on how their eggs are cooked is undermining and a insult to my intelligence so i won't be back to eat at Spring Gardens...
Read moreThe building and the decor tell you the place has been around a while, and the food, prices, and service tell you why. I had a seafood pasta dish and was initially surprised by how much tomato sauce it was buried in and by the size {it was two FULL meals and I'm not a small man). I dove in anyway, pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was - even the sauce, which is generally not my preference. Spices were well used and the seafood was perfectly done. The 5th star fell to the overcooked, nearly flavorless pasta, but the rest more than made up for it.
Service was friendly but a little slow and chaotic. The place was slammed so I cut them a break for that, assuming they (like many places) are struggling to get servers and didn't just schedule too few. The decor was dated kitschy but pleasant. Atmosphere is typical of a family-style diner and they had no trouble accommodating our large party.
And the value was remarkable. For what we got, I would have expected a larger tab. As I said at the start, there's a reason (actually several) this place maintains its popularity.
I look forward to...
Read moreThe portion size is a good value for the money but the skillets are very heavy on the potatoes. See pictures. This cuts down on the flavors, because every bite you take has a massive amount of baked carbs. Our service was okay. We had full drinks the entire time, but our waitress dropped the check off with the food and said goodbye to us just as we were starting to eat. This diner reminds me of a nursing home cafeteria due to the decor. See pictures. There was a young girl refilling drinks. She seemed a little confused. She even tried to refill my coffee while it was already full. I told her I already had a full mug, but a spoon to mix my creamer and sugar would be very much appreciated. The menu is huge. They do offer a lot of dining options. They can accommodate larger groups, too. They offer outdoor dining on the patio, and yes, it's dog-friendly, too. Overall, not a bad experience but not necessarily a good...
